To make a long story short, my car insurance company increased my rates because I moved across the country and notified them of my address change thinking I was now living in a cheaper area. The rate increase was absurd, we're talking 2000 dollars a month (compared to ~140$/month) because they said it was an "unacceptable risk" and their policies don't cover my region. Two weeks later I figured out what was going on and quickly canceled my policy (I had been browsing around for a new one in the meantime).
The result is that they say I owe nearly 1000$ and since I refuse to pay I'm jeopardizing my credit score. I'm in my mid twenties in grad school, what would you do? Thanks in advance for your help.
