We need to nickname Ed W "The Obliterator"!
That is equivalent to a 5:45 mile (at age 76!), is worth 97% on the WAVA age-grade scale (which is awesome) and he doesn't even do 1500 training! Way to go Ed W, I hope this means your injury woes are behind you.
Bravo Mr. Ed (from the poster formerly known as A Pied)
Ed inspires me to RUN FOREVER!
I want to do:
Sub 5 at 50
Sub 6 at 60
Sub 7 at 70
Sub 8 at 80
Sub 9 at 90
Sub 10 at 100
Thank you, Ed.
those are going to be hard. good luck.
check his pee. just joking, ed is an inspiration.
he is ripped to shreds...ladies dont cut yourself.
Ed was a former world Masters champ in the 1500 age group 45 back in the day: off the top of my head around 4.11.
Man has he slowed down, I don't know what his problem is, probably those damn marathons.
Always like to hear about Ed the great!...what he does is unbelievable!...WOW!.....great job!...love to hear about it from the man himself!....one of my favorite runners! GO ED! I wish I could see you run sometime!
Rock on Ed!
(pic from three years ago, another 1500 WR):
Amazing! Congratulations, Mr. Whitlock.
What I want to know is... how come there's no mention of this on the front page?
New WR, folks... Let's give our older brother some love!

4:06 at 45, actually.
Man, 5:20 at 76! OUCH!!! :)
I'm continually amazed by Ed's perfect running form! Put photos of Coe and Ed together and compare. SERIOUSLY!
anybody remember a guy named O'Neil from the mid 70s who ran a 1:57 880?
Running Times principals: a cover w/Mr Ed and a feature?
I have a huge mancrush on Ed Whitlock. Great run.
I am unaware of anyone over 70 having run an 880 or 800 meters that fast. As of March 6, 2006 the world record for the 70 year old 800 meters was Canadian Earl Fee's 2:20.52 (2:20.45 indoors). Earl Fee's age 75 record is 2:36.26 (2:32.47 indoors). My records do not show anyone over 55 having broken two minutes for 800 meters. I know that Nolan Shaheed ran 1:58.65 at age 50 and 2:00.11 in 2001 at age 51.
And still no mention of this on the front page.
C'mon wejo, get your shit together.
