I have been using the 11 and 12 but have heard that the new ds is very stiff(bad and the new kayano is very flexible(good).
Anyone using them?

new DS runs short.
I tried them on and they seemed about the same. Would I go up a 1/2 size? How is the feel? Are they the same shoe, just a color difference? I may try to search for 12s on the internet.

My thoughts exactly!
ds trainer is a completely different shoe from the kayano- ds is lightweight, kayano is ultra heavyweight- probably not a very smart transition
new ds trainer is a little stiffer and more stable but not too different from the old one in my opinion. dont know anything about the kayanos.
I wouldn't call it ultra heavy wieght. Its lighter than the beast or the hurricane.
I'd call the Kayano13 the best high mileage trainer. 1500 - you might not be able to handle it.
I don't need alot of shoe, 98 lbs, slight overpronator with soft orthotics. Sometimes I like a bulky shoe when I'm running easy. A pair of kayanos lasts me a yr while I go through a pair of ds trainers every two months. So, the new ds is not like the old? I love the ds but a little fearful of a stiff shoe.
I do need a stability shoe. Purchased a pair of Brooks Burn bc I got them on sale and they didn't have the ds in my size but after a wk at 90 miles which I can do in my ds I noticed my achilles is tight. Great shoe for intervals or maybe racing but not an everyday trainer.
