No, it is your job to save her, you self-inflated prick.
No, it's not my job to save her, you fool.

I ran with her in college when she was ridiculously fit... she does NOT look healthy now. Add to that her 20 second + PR?? After almost two years not training....Interesting, very interesting. I hope for her sake she is clean and healthy but I wouldn't put money on it. Sorry guys.
So what was her weight on the day of the AR race? If you can't put up some numbers, don't say she's too skinny.

Who are you?
Why would you talk shit about someone who you know is healthy and clean.
You are either completely full of shit or have some sort of agenda.

You're right, it is your job to talk shit about her on an internet message board.
Nice life!

At most you ran against her, maybe, though doubtful. No way you ran for UNC and know her. Nobody who actually knows her would come on here and post anonymously.
I'm sure Flanagan has a fantastic support group around her making sure she is doing everything the right way. Throwing out allegations on the internet is not the right way to do things. However, I realize this is Letsrun and that's unfortunately how things work here.
Finally, this is a picture from the same set that another poster said she was carrying "more meat". To me, she looks exactly the same here as she did in Boston.
http://www.fast-women.com/image_view.php?p=19&s=photos/2005/usaoutdoor05/highlightsI'm done with this thread.
I just looked at the photos from the Boston indoor meet on the letsrun link, and Shanale Flanagan and Debaba don't look a whole lot different, except for skin color. Now admittedly, that is from pictures. I wasn't there, so I can't say. I am just going from the pictures.
The fact that a runner is setting records is no guarantee that they are healthy. There is a difference between fit and healthy. You can be a and b, a and not b, b and not a, or not a and not b.

yikes
yeah she looks just like any other distance runner. I mean take Sara Hall for example. I don't they all look the same.
And whoever posted the fact that 3% bodyfat is probably not good for women, I agree, generally. But the women in question, Shalane et al., are professional athletes and can not be evaluated with health standards based off the fat part of the bell curve.
I wasn't at the meet, but she was definitely looking extremely ripped on TV compared to any other time I've seen her....very tight abs - not even the thinnest of fat layer.
At this point I will not call her unhealthy - I will call her Super Fit.
There is no way to tell if she is at a healthy weight or not based off of pictures alone. If she is just finally really fit and has been training like an animal, her body could change quite a bit.
If she has been eating poorly than it will show in her training and racing in the upcoming months. No elite/national class runner that I have know has been able to mess with their diet to cut weight and been able to maintain their healthy and fitness for more than a short period of time. Injury and illness usually is just over the hill.
Many people that have had eating disorders can actually run really well for a short period of time upwards of 1 year, but usually lasting 6 months or less.
I really believe that the real elite runners, top of the world level, don't have to monitor their diets that much and worry about their weight. Their body types are more apt to be light anyways.
Getting of the soapbox..................now.

I'm done with this thread.
i beg to differ. who hasn't had a teammate that they or someone else has talked shiznit about? not to say that "question?" is talking shiz, because i believe s/he was just stating their opinion on her. but i'd be more surprised if someone who knew flannagan came on here and posted their name, than if they did not.
Are you kidding me?????? She isn't too thin. You people are psycho.
Invariably, if a white girl looks skinny, you get this discussion. However, the woman that beat Shalene looked like she weighed a grand total of 20 pounds.
She actually looks like she packed in some more muscle in Boston rather than losing muscle/weight. I wouldn't be surprised if she actually weighs more right now than a year ago.
Wouldn't you all agree though, that she WEIGHS less now than at UNC; whether she looks good, ripped, bad, skinny, whatever. The scale never lies, unless it is fixed.

What was her weight the day she set the AR?
This question has come up so many times (at least 3) in this thread so far, and it HAS NOT BEEN ANSWERED. Put some numbers down, so we can get an OBJECTIVE measure of her weight.
"Looks skinny", "kind of thin", and "possibly anorexic" doesn't cut it.
A CONCRETE FACT, like "weighs 100 pounds" does.
You're right, the scale never lies. When you get those numbers to me, desert rodent, we'll have a nice little chat.
