I live in a small town 75 miles from the nearest honda dealer. Thus, I've had my first two oil changes at Walmart of all places. I'm pretty skeptical about the whole thing, but how can you screw up an oil change? This is how.
I noticed last week after getting the oil changed the idle was rough. Then the car started dying. So I drove to the nearest city and had them check it out. The serviceman got in the car with me, and when it wouldn't stall, he said nothing was wrong. Then it stalled, and he asked to drive. He then proceeded to flog the car 7-8 times, saying that all he needed to do was to flush out the soft carbon. He says they can't do anything because the check engine light isn't on.
The car proceeds to die several more times, and continually run worse. The light pops on , and they keep the car.
They (honda) called me back today after diagnosing the problem. The oil filter was the wrong size and was leaking everywear. Also, the air filter hose was not attached. So basically, Walmart effed up the oil change, and checking the air filter.
Certainly Walmart should pay for everything, but I don't think they will. Honda won't cover anything under warranty, nor should they. Even if it gets fixed, I'll not be satisfied as I'll be wondering what the hard driving did to the car while it was low on oil and not breathing filtered air.
Any ideas?
