PLEASE sir?
Thank you.

Thank you.
Yes, please do Jim. That would be so cool.
I'd buy 'em if they did that. American market shoes are klunkers compared to shoes back in the day.
Mizuno has listened to the demand in North america for ultra light weight flats.
The wave Universal (3.8 oz) is going to be available this summer.
check your local specialty dealer.
Can you wait until June?
As part of their fall line, Asics will debut the Pirahna, a new racing flat inspired by Japanese flats. It is supposed to be a hair under 5 oz. and built with Asics' new Solyte midole with no Gel cushioning. It will be out with the rest of their fall line on 6/1/07

If you're looking for a rough idea of what the Pirahna will look like, google "Asics Hayate KF." That is supposedly the shoe it will be based on.
To me it sounds like a nice shoe, and I'll probably get a pair for 5ks and 10ks, but don't expect a flood of Japanese flats in the US. Asics is probably trying this shoe out as an experiment...if it works and sells well you may see more of their Japanese designs, but odds are it won't find a huge audience and will merely take some market share away from the Nike Streak XC and Brooks T4. Let's face it, serious runners who desire a lightweight flat don't make up a huge segment of Asics' target market.

Yeah, for $150...
Asics is making a sub 5 oz flat, the Piranha, for $110.
Here's another link with info from an Asics rep:

Well what if they offered a web site for US consumers to buy the units straight from Dai Nippon?
Hell, some enterprising English-speaking person in Japan could just set up an ebay store and sell them to desperate Yanks.
Re: the RWOL threads, gotta love the 19-minute 5kers all caught in a tizzy over the weights of shoes.
There actually is a Japanese website that sells many of the Japanese Asics models and you can order from them. The problem is that you either need to know how to read Japanese or you need to know someone who does who can talk you through it. But it does work and you can get the shoes.
