I have a young cousin in the East who for some reason wanted to go to the University of Colorado. I told him to go to the University of New Mexico instead. I'll tell him again.

I'm not sure I understand your post. Would you recommend he go to UNM instead because at UNM you won't get kicked off the team for drinking and posing in sexual positions? Otherwise, I wouldn't see any reason for choosing UNM over CU.

Dear Billy Nelson (aka - stfu already; lawn gnome) --
I am sorry that you got kicked off the CU team, but I will not stop talking about how stupid your and/or the actions of the individuals on the CU team were. You all knew the rules when you signed your scholarships and other athletic forms at the beginning of the season.
I think we can make some conclusions here.
1. Very few people, especially those on this board, really know what happened.
2. That won't stop people from doling out their judgement on people and situations they've never been familiar with.
3. Some of these kids obviously should have been more carefull considering the sensitive climate at CU and the warnings I'm sure they've received with Facebook.
4. This doesn't say anything about the character of Mark Wetmore, CU track and XC and not much about those involved. College kids do these types of things ALL THE TIME, and if you are recruiting 18 year old kids, these type of things are going to happen. But yes, again, see #3, they weren't very bright about making it public.
5. Life isn't fair. Better we realize that now.
6. It's lonely at the top and pure jealousy is a bitch.
The truth about what happened has been posted several times...a few CU track athletes posted pictures of themselves underage drinking and posing in mock sexual positions, might I add, it was a few of the top distance women. Someone in the higher up saw these and suspended the better runners from one race even though all the pictures were from them. Those who got kicked off were all over 21 and just in bar scenes. It's really stupid!
Does your cousin want to run in college? If so, why UNM?
why unm?? wrote:

Because they are both crappy academic schools?
Does anyone have the pictures?
Strang's dad would sue the CU if they let him drink alcohol.
if you had jenny barringer and some of the other runners as friends on thefacebook, you would of seen them...but I'm sure they are gone by now.
If you don't have pics to show then it's pointless to refer to them
Derek Winton: 21
Micah Mosely: 21
Jason Zitcherman: 21
Kelly something: 21
and 2 walk-ons no one knows.
They were dismissed because they had "the most" pictures on facebook. The sexually suggestive pictures don't exist.
several underage members were given 1 meet suspensions, even though they were the only ones technically breaking the law.
Heather Borroughs (Assistant Coach maybe?) ran for wetmore and graduated in 01 i think... she's dating/living with him now.
Ask your CU friends if you don't believe any of this, but that's what i heard. The dismissals were bullsh*t, and the athletes should be pissed.

Actually, ALL of those are athletes that no one knows.

Wrong, stop spreading false rumors.
the athletes should be pissed.
Only because they could've easily avoided all of this if they weren't self-important dumbasses.
exactly. Just thought i'd put a stop to the nelson/vaughn being dismissed runner. Also, i was wrong on the grad date for heather, but ask any CU runner, coach, or person involved w/ the program, the only reason they aren't married is the fact that wetmore is anti-marriage. Don't be a dick if you don't know what you're talking about.

Take your own advice. How much trouble would it have been to get your facts straight before bumping your gums? Hell, is it too much to ask to leave Wetmore's personal relationships off of public discussion forums? You only look really small (as in like a dick) by bringing it up or discussing it publicly at all.
Assistant Coach Heather Burroughs is mostly definitley living with Wetmore.

"definitely"
Um, so what? What does this have to do with this incident?
Did James strng's dad see this nightmare coming when he ordered his son to transfer to Arkansas for lack of publicity and love?
