- Jackson is dealing with guys at the top end here. His expectation of what they should know and should be doing is going to be very different to if he was dealing with kids. It's quite reasonable to expect them to be right on their game
- He is smart enough to talk in a way that will challenge and inspire them. They've both almost certainly read this article and heard him say this stuff before. He's not going to say in school report style 'They're trying very hard...' To some it may sound negative but it's not at all. He's saying that if they do a few basic things they can go much faster.
- Guys who have run 12.91 for 110m are not going to take much compromise. Meet any top coach or athlete and they KNOW they know best.
- It's not going out on a limb to be saying the sport in the UK has major coaching/athlete issues
Jackson is getting his excuses in early in case the athletes dont perform i.e. it isnt my fault you should have seen the state I inherited them...
Williams hasnt actually been running that long (was he a swimmer ?) so it is unlikely that he would be fully up to speed yet, and if you look at Benjamins background you will see why he isnt the finished article yet either.
So I think that it is a bit of a wet squib really.
