I remember watching Earl run an 800 in about 2:20 in the summer of '99 and then come back shortly after and break 30 for a 200.

Yes, that was quite a performance on Sunday. All of us in Canada should be mighty proud of Ed's accomplishments ... and those of Earl Fee as well. Both are (literally)unbelievable athletes, and very fine gentlemen to boot.
As to another matchup at say 1,500m, it is my understanding that Earl has problems with a calf when racing beyond 1,000m or so, so that seems to prelude a 1,500 "showdown".
Another chapter. I LOVE it.
Ed are you back up to 3 hours a day again or hanging in there at 2?
Bravo.

Mandingo, Were you there? I just missed the meet because I slightly injured a calf last week. Should have went just to watch.
I was there. I was actually one of the three back up timers for Ed in case the electronic system didn't work.
I was planning on running the 3000 but have had piriformus trouble the last week so I went to help out.
Earl Fee ran 49.15 for the 300m and 1:53.13 for the 600m.
Both Earl and Ed are very smooth but have totally different styles. Maybe a 1000m match up would be the most interesting between those two! There is a 1000m at the meet on Feb. 25. Might be a good tune up for both for the Ontario Masters the week after!
Mandingo;
Were you "high", "middle", or "low"?

Funny you should ask; I was middle.
I think the three times were 5:30.75; 5:30.85 and 5:30.95 with mine being the 5:30.85. I was joking that mine must have been the correct one. Timing and counting laps is not as easy as it looks. Easy to do but easy to mess up. You have to pay attention. I should give Ed full bell ringing marks as he was doing that job for the 3000's.

Struggling at the moment with knee problems. Took a few days off recently and cut my run short today because it felt a bit sore and uncomfortable. Haven't done a 3 hour run for several months but have still managed a fair amount of training.
Saw this link over on Runnersweb - it contains the interview on chum:

Good stuff!
Sorry, citynews, not chum. Wouldn't want to be pointing to the wrong medium.
Ed you are pretty modest. Hey I remember at the 2000 Bobby crim I ran a 59:52 for 10 miles and you were like 60:08 for a 69 year old. you are one incredible runner, keep it up you are raising the bar for older athletes and letting everyone know that age has no limits!!! great job!!!
