400m @ high altitude

I'm guessing that the altitude helped you. Lee Evans ran a 43.86 second world record in 1968 in the Olympics - finally broken by Butch Reynolds 20 years later. The altitude helps the sprints and kills the long distance runners - guessing it is a slightly positive thing in the 400 metes.

At your pace, it probably actually had no affect.

At Flagstaff, add 0.46 to a 54.06=54.52 at sea level.

Wow it's interesting that it actually adds to your time.. I could swear that I would have been faster at a regular altitude.. Haha

It SHOULD feel harder- it's January on a small track.

FYI 800 is about the same sea level/altitude, 1500 starts altitude effect.

Yeah so the altitude effect isn't really a big deal up to the 400 eh?

I was in santa fe approx 7000ft and sprinting felt so hard, like i was in slow motion. Is that in my head and in reality everything is slowing down, like altitude gives me time traveling abilities?

What did your coach say...maybe your not training right if it hurt that much?

my coach said I was a lameass who needs to stop trying every tactic to make my bad races seem better with douchey excuses about altitude and lying about the time,etc... He really wasn't all that helpful. It really hurt at the end-did I say that yet?

I hope your coach is charging you primo for that kind of counseling.
