Actually, a little bit of Air Supply followed by Zamfir makes a nice mix to hum over in your head while passing the miles on those long runs.

Almost as good as ABBA and Caren Carpenter. Almost.

Duck and Run by 3 Doors Down.

It has nothing to do with running, but its a kick ass song when doing hard workouts.

It's not a drivin metal song...but when I hear that intro comin through the speakers, I step on the gas.

the harder stuff is definitely what does it for me before running. your post got me thinking about soundgarden (i think because chris cornell was going to be the new lead singer of rage for a while) and their badass song 'outshined'. the guitar riff in that one is a skullcrusher- and skullcrushing ability is a prerequisite of any runner.

This may be a little "old school", but anything by AC-DC before a run works for me. Back in Black, Shoot to Thrill etc etc.

For getting pumped up before races (and to hear some incredible guitar playing), nothing beats the hard drivin' psychobilly sound of The Reverend Horton Heat.
