If anyone is looking to do some summer track meets on a Thursday night and happens to be in Northeast PA, check out College Misericordia. Get some decent competition up there, McCabe, Kyle Hardenbrook(ran for Ship), other local guys. This Thursday and August 2 are the remaining meets. Have heats of everything distance wise going, even 3k steeple(which I may do on my birthday)..As for this week though, its mile and 4 by 4(not in shape for distance races, haha)
Just throwing that out there..
Dirt,
Where can we find results for this? I looked on the athletics website and did not see anything. Although i did only look for about 30 seconds.
what u guys think about the results for the nj road race that weiss, reagan, bluman and pinto ran? weiss 24:30, reagan 25:15, bluman 25:30, and pinto 26:00 ...

I have an idea, lets start a Slippery Rock thread and you guys can have lots of fun talking about yourselves. Because from what I've seen its 95% slippery rock 5% perspiration. Great Job slippery rock,
I all hope you fail come regionals and nationals so we can bring up that year that you talked yourselves up and said about having 5 guys in the top 10 at regionals, and hoping to win nationals and you did squat. Weiss is going to get it done because Weiss is Weiss, Reagan is prob gonna get it done but after that lets watch some guys over train and run fast in September and October to fall off and get beat by nobodies.
I would rather Lock Haven win again then you annoying gringos
hey blu, its been a while man. when are you going to come down to DC and visit me? We can go on a nice run, maybe two, check out the trails, and have a great time like we always do? Nice job so far this summer man. Keep it up. Take care and kiss all the SRU guys and hug all the girls for me. Or is it the other way around? Oh well, just do it.

It's been a while since I've read this thread, and over the last page and a half I was thinking, "this PSAC comradery is great, but where are the idiots that always bash other schools to boost their ego and make up for their own lack of a penis" Then I read your post and now I feel that balance has been restored to this thread.
Thank you, and actually I believe (ofcourse I could be wrong) that most of the Slippery Rock talk has been from ppl other than SRU runners (Hoovis) but they have planned and worked hard for this anyway so let them talk thats what we all get on here to do.
And to answer Cloud...
IUP's schedule is as follows...
Sep 8th Davis and Elkins (not sure what we did to deserve this but oh well)
Sep 15th IUP home meet
Sep 29th Spiked Shoe
Oct 6th Slippery Rock
Oct 13th Carnegie Melon
Oct 27th PSAC's at K-Town
Nov 3rd Regionals at Haven
Personally I'll be peaking for the Run For the Diamonds in Berwick PA later that month. Just kidding... or am I?
WEll, at least all the SRU talk diverts attention away from Mansfield!
hahaha...nice post big bear. i dont know why its just about sru. probably cause i'm the only one bored enough to come on here every day...o well. i would love to talk about some other schools. lets talk about how boro is gonna be since they always like to suprise everyone. they didnt have anyone good for track, how do they do that and end up so good for cross every year. do they just not care about track since the rest of their team sucks? they are adding ben hahn, niemera, and field to the distance team from this track season but still. some of them were saying they dont train much in the winter because theres too much snow there or something. dont know if thats true. anyone actually talk to anyone on their team about this ever?
boro---alot stronger than the past few years
lock haven---as strong as normal
ship----i think they lost alot so they might have a down year, but you never know
mansfield---they were supposed to have redshirted everyone for this year, wooten's coming back, i hear moresman's hurt though
esu---iuri is gonna be much faster than any previous xc season, he'll go individually, couple other guys to round out a decent finish
iup---hope these guys can get something going since jorge and krutchnitch are gone(i dont know how the hell to spell his name)
i dont know what other teams could put something together...clark is supposed to be redshirting, so cal will have to wait another year for a team. clarion is no more.
our schedule is something like this, not sure if the dates are right:
sept 1 -anchorage
sept 15 -iup invite
sept 22 -juniata
oct 6 -sru invite
oct 13 -psu national
psacs
regionals
jorge, dude come out here aug.4 for the debbie green, iuri's comin out for it. i lost your number again, sorry, but i'll maybe get it off jake. me and pat might roadtrip to visit jake and you before school. as long as you get me some cheap brooks stuff!!!
Bluman... Not sure exactly what you want to know, but for a couple minutes on my lunch break I will try to explain.
Every morning from start of spring semester to spring break you expect to wake up to snow (or in case of this year til Easter). In the afternoon the 2 main roads in town and campus is cleared every other road is a sheet of ice constantly.
To get in workouts means having to compete with the basketball teams and scheduled high school events to do intervals on the 130 meter hard wood basketball court. This could mean doing 10 PM workouts on certain days.
A major difference between xc & track is that track workouts tend to be purely interval based eliminating our distanced based races during the fall. Also training runs go from 5:45 -6:15 pace to almost 7:45 if you are lucky to stay on your feet.
That is the most basic way of explaining things.
hey mccabe, hope you didnt think i meant any disrespect against it. i was just wondering. i didnt think it could be worse up there than in sru, but i guess it really could be with the lake there and all. this was a rough winter with snow every day, we had a couple injuries from it.
are you done with college running? i saw your name in alot of results this summer so i see your at least staying in good shape. any plans for running or are you just goin with the flow? good luck with the rest of your summer..ttyl
Looks like Carney's going to be up against some pretty good American competition at the Atletiek Vlaanderen meet on Saturday. Here's the start list:
5000m
Name Nat Club SB PB
Mark Caroll IRE 13,33,20 13,02,93
Kamiel Maase NED 13,50,65 13,13,06
Abdi Abdirahman USA 13,33,68 13,13,32
Ryan Hall USA 13,16,03
Alan Culpepper USA 13,33,10 13,25,75
Andrew Carlson USA 13,55,22 13,32,71
Kyle King USA 13,33,44 13,33,44
Thomas Morgan USA 13,36,91 13,36,91
James Carney USA 27,43,64 (10k) 13,37,66
Stephen Haas USA 13,38,51 13,38,51
While the winner will definitely run much faster than Carney's PR, it also shouldn't be an insanely fast race (I bet winning time is like 13:07 - 13:10...so, could be a great chance for a huge PR.

seems kind of dumb to go all the way to europe to run this race with that many americans. should have just gotten it together in NYC or eugene, regardless, hopefully carney bangs out a good one.
wcu's schedule:
9-1 - Delaware Valley
9-8 - Kutztown
9-15 - Lock Haven
9-22 - Wilmington, DE
9-28 - Paul Short - Lehigh
10-6 - Goldey Beacom, DE
10-13 - University of Delaware
10-27 - psacs
11-3 - regionals
bluman, i'll be at debbie green, and yes, i agree with you, one, jorge medina, should make an appearance.

Bluman,
Hopefully these links work...
http://www.ems.psu.edu/PA_Climatologist/slipperyrock/http://www.edinboro.edu/cwis/geosci/eupwx/eupsnowfall.htmlThis first site shows that Slippery Rocks greatest snowfall for a season was under 80 inches about 30 years ago. And the second link shows that Edinboro received 165 inches last year on an average year. Basically whatever SRU gets, Edinboro get double at least.
still wondering why Carney didn't run USA's, he had one of the top times going in.
let me see about that race guys... i would love to head up there but I will need to take it up with the big man. im sure it will be a blast. take care dudes. hope to see all of you soon.
TP-I'm pretty sure ill be in the West Chester area this summer so ill hit you up when I go.
Teepee:
Go to a European meet just once, and you won't wonder why they all went to Europe to run fast. The combination of the weather, the track/track surface, the (usually) perfectly rabbited race, the crowd, and the overall big meet excitement make them something special.
I went to the Pre Classic for the first time this year and have been to USATF's a number of times as well as the Oly Trials, and nothing...NOTHING compares to those big European meets. The closest experience I can personally relate to was the World Cross Champs when they were in Boston...it's that kind of atmosphere.

Bluman:
Yeah, dude, you've totally got to go to the Boro in mid-January. You'll understand.
I've definitely been up in Erie on days when you couldn't tell if you were running on the beach or on a frozen-over lake Erie, because all of Presque Isle was buried under feet of snow. And, I think Boro (which is probably like 13 miles south of Erie) gets it even worse.
McCabe nailed it with the twice as much data...think about a really bad snowstorm at the Rock. You get like 6-8 inches of snow. In Erie (or elsewhere in the snowbelt like Dunkirk or even Buffalo), a bad storm is a foot or two...or more.
