Thinking of picking up a pair of these bad boys...
Wearing them probably will not make you gay. But they sure won't bring you back to our team either.
but calling anything "bad boys" is a clear sign that you already are gay.
so go ahead, pick up a pair. it makes no difference now.
Only well-hung sprinters should wear such things...oh wait, you said tbey were for a marathon.
I sure hope that this is a joke or that you are a female.
Do everything Paula does and you'll run your fastest marathon.
please keep in mind he also wrote 'thon. he must be a retarded homosexual. or at least a person with down syndrome who's held a couple until the swelling went down.
I run in compression shorts all the time. I have run a marathon in them. I didn't think I would like them because I didn't think I would like them being tight around my legs. A young runner friend said he really liked them so I tried them and I really like them. They also hold you in better than I thought they would. Your choice whether you want briefs or a jock under them or not, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't, but usually not.
I've done long runs (e.g. 120-150 minutes) in compression shorts.
I cannot find any difference between them and other "biking shorts" (short tights, fitness shorts, whatever you want to call them).
While studies say compression shorts help, this is most likely at the margins, like most performance improvement tweaks.
I am experiencing some upper quad / hip pain. Would compression shorts provide some relief? I am hoping to run a marathon on Oct 7 and wonder if compression shorts would help out at all?
when did compressions shorts replace tights as a term? or spandex? what a long, bulky way of saying "i'm not gay even though i wear tight pants".
The term compression is used because of the materials used...they provide a level of compression. While I am not a materials engineer, a certain amount of compression can improve economy and add marginal support to stress areas.
Nice!

asking a serious question, how is that different from spandex/tights?
Not sure about the marathon but I wore some of those bad boys during a half mary last summer and, while I'm not sure if they helped my performance, they certainly made me feel a lot sexier than I already am.
I look at it this way; we should all strive to give something back to the sport. By wearing my compression shorts I'm providing the lead pack ladies a sexy alternative to all those baggy-short-wearing males in the race.
I mean why is it that women should always provide in-race entertainment with their bun huggers? Just get darker colors - I found out the hard way that sweat is a lot more noticeable when I wear my white compression shorts - if you know what I mean, nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

No, no: "bad boys" are the new "puppies."
The researchers believe that there are three advantages provided by compression tights that reduce energy costs of running.
They assist with the blood pumping action to move lactate from the muscle
The compression supports the contraction of the muscle fibers
Compression tights improve muscle coordination, propreoception and power.

Don't make fun of Paula!
By the way: those compression socks, though fugly, actually work...(not so, the titanium...).
