Thanks...I saw him race a number of times many years ago, of course. He was smooth and quick, lots of good acceleration. Clever racer. He could do nothing with Peter Snell, but then again, nobody else in the world could either at the time.

Bernard Lagat has a real age-- you know this how? Because he went to college in the US? A lot of Kenyans/Ethiopians have a real age, Americans don't like to admit it because they get their asses kicked.
When Haile burst on to the scene they said he was older than he was...until he had a 10+ year career which would have put him over 40 by their calculations.
What does aufg mean after Willis' name? I assume it means he didn't start. Anyone know why not?
Who foots the bill for 2 guys with college elgibility going to Europe? I believe that it can only be themselves. In which case it seems like a pretty costly venture without a whole lot of experience being gained by running in b heats where the toughest competitor is 1:50.
What is Robinson doing running again, didn't he just finish 2nd at US Nationals? 1:45 is damn fast for such a short rest and such a long travel if that is the case.
Yeah, we don't want none of them 'murican runners going over there and runnin' fast. They need to stay over heah and just run tacticuhl.
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh.
I wasn't knocking him, jackass, I was saying its impressive that he ran so well on such short turn around. I think its great that some Americans are finally challenging themselves.
But that was a creative post, you made a really insightful point about how impressive his race was.
What kind of time do you think Willis is capable at 1500 right now? 3:37 or 3:38 is in range I feel...
They can run for a track club and have all their expenses paid for, including expenses to train in Ann Arbor for the summer. As long as they do not recieve extra $$ above those living/training/competition expenses they are fine. I believe they run for the Michigan Track Club. The Michigan swim team has something similar (Club Wolverine)
How does that work wrote:

Of course they get paid. Europe isn't free, and I don't believe you fell off a turnip truck, did you? At Michigan, football players with no visible means of support are driving brand new cars? You think the NCAA has better things to do than to bust a couple of kids who'll be lucky to take home a thousand bucks for their Summer adventure? They do.
As far as Brannen being disappointed for not being placed in the fast heat? You're kidding? They're ecstatic that they're competing in the same stadiums with the big boys. They're young, and they've got time on their side. You don't start out at the top. Track has an apprenticeship too. 'B' races in 'B' meets first. Then 'A' races in 'B' meets. A few rabbit gigs, some 'B' races in the big meets. Rip one in one of those 'B' gigs and maybe, just maybe, they'll let you run with the big boys - if you promise you won't get in the way.
So who pays for the track club??
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
