Jefferson twins contract

Boy are the Jeffersons' going to be surprised come April 15th. "Room and board" is taxable income.

That taxable income can all be somewhat offset against their annual mileage. I think the Federal rate is 44.5 cents/mile. Depending on how much they run a week, that'll bring it down a couple grand. (As long as the have written support, that is.)

Hahaha. Now that is a good tax deduction. Who else do you do taxes for??? I may need to audit a couple of them.

The numbers came from the newspaper article on the front page.

This is similar to the contract that C. Chock was promised out of high school. These young athletes think it's a lot of money and don't realize they're really getting screwed by NIKE.

I loved the Doublemint gum commercials. That is cool to get to see runners in them. When will they air?

Anybody who doesn't think that Nike is srewing those guys over is nuts. They arethe most up and down runners I know. PR's of 3:39? They are lucky as heck trust me.

They tried to contract the Minnesota Twins. It didn't work. I don't think it will work on the Jefferson Twins, either.

See, it's a joke on 'contract' and the way it is written, you know, like a headline: "Jefferson Twins Contract", which totally changes the meaning of 'contract' from a noun meaning a legal agreement to a verb meaning to shrink. Get it? Oh, never mind ...

Ok its not a lot of money but its not too shabby.

Its more than enough to live on, especially if this doesn't include a travel budget. When you're training full-time you don't need as much money as most because you're not spending as much.

I ran 13:38 and 28:33 in college and got nothing but a couple of pairs of shoes and a trip to nationals from Nike so I switched to Adidas and got $3,000.00 a year.

Those guys are getting a pretty good deal for guys probably at the lower end of the top 10 US in their event.

Who is this slaps guy who claims to have run such times in college? 13.38 and 28.33.....anyone?

I've helped out Andy Fastow and Bernard Ebbers in the past. They haven't returned my calls lately though.

I agree. They do have some fast PR's (3:56-:57) but have been medicore/bad much of their careers so far. Based on potential, maybe Nike should give them a short term deal and drop them if they don't show anything. Harsh, but then it's not fair to the runners who "show up" and are getting less or nothing.
