No way is it even close to the same. I have an eliptical trainer at home and use it when I have a nagging injury, but even when not going too hard, it says I'm going at 16-18 MPH, and that's pretty damn fast for running! Like was already said, it can raise your heart rate, and for me if gives the legs a decent stretch workout and works the quads a bit, but it's nowhere close to running.
