It's the posters as well... tired threads start all the time about non-african 5000m runners, white runners under 13:00 in the 5000m, Mottram is wonderful... one of the fastest non-africans, etc, etc... why would people start threads to focus on this all the time?? I wonder?

I am not a racist but I am interested and have a preference for fast white guys. Not always but that is my tendency. I tend to route for pro basketball teams that have more whites too. Bias is not racism.

Do you think blacks tended root for the Williams sisters or Tiger Woods because they have dark skin? Who do you think most blacks rooted for basketball MVP?

Well ok heres why. Gatlin is coached by Graham and was suspended once already for drugs. Landis on the other hand may have connections with Tyler Hamilton who if I remember correctly never produced a blood sample and Lance still has not failed a test. Landis also has a reputation for being one of the cleaner guys in cycleing, whereas I said above, Gatlin has already failed a test. I don't think it has to do with him being white or black, I think it has to do with the facts we are presented.

an anthropology class can help answer alot of these gray area questions for you. its a tribal mentality. if you are not part of the tribe or don't look like the rest of the tribe, you just won't mesh as well.

it all narrows down to survival. not enough corn for all of us. corn... corn is tough to digest... digest... hot chicks have to digest food... food... if a hot chick eats corn... are you following this?

I think the biggest reason there is bias towards whites on this board is because most of the posters are white. Track and field is dominated by Africans and people of African descent, so naturally a caucasion gets excited when Mottram, Wariner, or Tegg run well. When they run well it gives "whites" the encouragement that "hey, we can compete with these guys." That is why letsrunners don't get as excited when Meb wins silver, Abdi runs 27.22, or Lagat outkicks Bekele compared to Matt Teggenkamp (sp?) running 13.04 and finishing 8th in a Euro meet.

Whites are not showing racism they are just looking for someone to make them believe that all these 100 mile weeks are worth a damn.

Totally following it. Took that class. Got at A from one of the hardest, most well known, and openly racist anthropologies... Vicent Sarich (google him if you like).

But, understanding this logic... does it mean tribalism is necessary today? Does it make it right, morally?

Or, should we make the effort to try to evolve further?
