Does anyone know of trainers with a stiff mid-forefront? (I guess the area near the balll of the foot). My PT said to get a pair that was more stiff in that area, and I didn't know where to start. Thanks alot

I would start with a post on an internet discussion board know for wise-assed responses, then I would go into a running-specialty store and ask for assistance. If no running store was nearby, I'd find one to call/email directly. Then I'd go for a run and have a nice cold beer afterwards and be happy with the results I received.
Love you lots!
I got a pair of shoes about a year and a half ago that were unbelievably stiff. I first wore them on a cold night (about 5 degrees F), and my toes froze. With no flex in the shoe, my toes never flexed and blood didn't move around too much. I felt like I had just spent 2 hours playing outdoor hockey, my toes hurt so bad. I played hockey growing up in Minnesota, so I know what I'm talking about. I think I wore those shoes about 3 times. Just too painful.
I'm pretty sure that they were New Balance 880s.
Pumas are pretty stiff..
I can get pretty stiff wearing any brand of shoe (or no shoes at all!)
If you can find it, try to aucony Grid Trigon Durable. Its midsole is Polyurethane based instead of the regular EVA foam, so it is stiffer, doesn't compress as easily.
Also, Nike Air Zoom ______ tend to be stiffer than other Nikes, because the air in the Zoom units is pressurized, while the regular non-zoom air units are not.
The Nike Pegasus 2005 is stiff as hell but has decent cushioning. Try that.
While running shoes should be flexible in the forefoot, certain conditions, such as arthritis requires a stiffer forefoot. The Brooks Beast is fairly stiff, but it is also a very heavy shoe. The Asics Gel Empire is designed for a later-staged pronator and will be stiffer in the forefoot. The adidas GF Revenge (recently discontinued) has a post that runs all the way from heel to toe and is very stiff in the forefoot. If you need a more general purpose shoe, you can't beat the New Balance 620/621 cross trainer.
Brooks Beast.
Get some steel strapping from Signode and wrap it around the forefoot and that should help alot.
