Perhaps I missed this earlier, but today the NY Times ran a story about a 10/31/05 kidnapping attempt of Lindsey Ferguson -- an elite high school distance runner from Saratoga, NY. The kidnapper was caught and yesterday he was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Police found a rope, tarp and shovel in his van.

I am not sure if 12 years is a sufficient sentence here. But it is at least within the range of a reasonable result. This guy may have committed murder here.

Agreed. 12 years????? He's already and has been for several years. He'd have murdered her for sure. What a messed up system we have!
