It’s been 7 weeks since Conner has done any running. Keep in mind that he had only been running for a few weeks before starting back in February. He has been injured for 4 of the last 6 months. Would he be smart to not run another marathon this year?

Getting injured is easier when you get older. Grandpa Mantz should be more careful
When Mantz became injured the first time, the consensus on LR was that Eyestone was not closely monitoring his heath and training.
Ed coaches alot of ppl. None of this is his fault.
You need to keep in mind that ppl going straight to the marathon post college is a new phenomenon. One that ed endorses. Clinger, Harris, mantz, linkletter, I could name 20 others.
Mantz trains in alphaflies 24/7. Ed should probably change him over to the Pegasus plus. Other than that, if he changed his training, he wouldn't be running near as fast as he is. Mantz INTERNAL system is among the top in the world. His heart is very very strong. His body is like a Japanese runner.
Ed knows what hes doing, unlike other cosches who they themselves never ran professionally.
CoachdahI
Having athletes go straight to marathon out of college is not new. Ryan Hall did it (with success) and early 2000's Brad Hudson was the "in" coach and tried to get lots of runners to do it; especially male runners from CU Boulder - Ritz, the Torres twins, etc.
Conner isn't great at listening to Eyestone. He has said this himself multiple times. He did this to himself unfortunately. I'm a big Conner fan, he will absolutely come back from this. It's crazy how quickly this board can go from "Conner is the GOAT" after his AR to 6 months later saying he's washed up.. Anyway, he also has historically hidden his strava runs for a little when dealing with an injury, so it is possible he is running and just not posting to strava. Maybe wishful thinking, but who knows.
