I was actually quite impressed (especially not having a shoe sponsor) . Too many groups out there for anything worthwhile. There is another group in town that the local track club supports but they’re just local road people. Used to love Furman Elite 1500 they would host in July.
Greenville is a nice little city, if you like races check out the Upstate race series. They have a race pretty much every weekend of all distances......

That February Greenville Half-Marathon put on by the SetUp Event folks down the SwampRabbit Trail is fast AF.
There is a few blue-collar pro guys that make up the Greenville Track Club Elite team. There's also a pretty legit guy named James Quattlebaum that trains in the area (made the trials in 3k steeple in '21, just ran a 62:10 half). Yeah Furman elite has been dead for awhile and not sure of anything else going on or upcoming. Greenville wouldn't be the most ideal location for a pro running team climate-wise (hot and muggy summers), though Puma elite seems to handle Raleigh fine which has similar weather.

Having run in greenville and the surrounding area, it is a terrible place to train. The roads are over run with red necks who dont like runners. Sidewalks? Forget about those. They basically dont exist. The nearby trails arent going to make you a great distance runner either. Raleigh is far better to train at.
I heard the same, ragtag "pro" group from the sounds of it. I doubt it will be sponsored, something more like Pete Julian is doing in Boulder. But there are hundreds of good athletes in Boulder and Pete obviously has a great resume. Anything in Greenville would need to be good enough to get people to move there. Great town and good running, but other than Quattlebaum (who Dirtrunner mentioned) I think you'd have to go to Boone or Raleigh to find the closest "pro" runner (whatever tf that means these days).

"Down" is an important word here; I believe the drop is pretty significant. The race looks like fun, though.
