I can't say I'm an expert on WW1 but I am a WW2 Eastern Front addict. I guess if you were a German from June 1941 to October of that year and from May 1942 to August 1942 you would feel like Bekele. March 1943 to July 1943 would have felt very calm during peace talks and a rest period to prepare for summer and at the time many still believed they had a chance to win. I wouldn't like to be a German being chased over the Dnieper to a Panther Wotan line which didn't exist or a German in operation Bagration.
WW1 would be better overall because they had a chance to win and were closer to winning than they were in WW2.
Western front. Much more likely to be taken prisoner by allied forces. Eastern front was no quarter most of the time, but if you were taken prisoner it was going to be a brutish existence in a gulag.

True… but you’ve also got poison gas to worry about.
I am a 100% VA Disabled Veteran it doesn't matter which Front I choose either. We have a great country that has provided great opportunities. Post military my entire career has been DoD, so has my wife. My son is currently sworn in and will soon ship off to begin an Air Force service and I am beyond proud of him!

This, and I'll add:
1. There were twice as many total deaths on the WW2 Eastern front with a slightly higher death rate (20% compared with 17%).
2. Most German soldiers were not given adequate clothing for the Russian winter and many froze to death (a fate far worse than a quick death from a bullet or bomb).
Pretty clear the answer is WW1 Western Front. Higher chance of survival, better morale, French cooking with that option.
Eastern front in WW2 presented Russians, cold, hunger, little concern for war crimes, poor morale, higher chance of death and injury, but also Russian girls.
The Germans did relatively better on the eastern front, as the Russians launched a disastrous, costly offensive, overthrew the tsar and quit the war. To quit the war they had to make serious concessions.
The pressure was off the Germans on the eastern front more than 2 years before the war ended in the west with the Versailles treaty. And it formally ended in the east more than 1 1/2 years earlier. Somehow the Germans still managed to lose!
They ALWAYS lose wars. They can only beat the French.

That's the eastern front during the first world war. The comparison was between the western front during WW1 and the eastern front during WW2.
Perhaps they don't teach reading comprehension in school, I guess

6% of the adult male population of Britain died in WW1. FACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My West Point roommates father served in the 2nd SS Panzer division on the Eastern Front. He was held in a Soviet prison for several years after the war ended. WWI had some epic battles like the Battle of the Somme and Verdun but the Eastern front in WWII was far worse due to weather and distance. WWI was largely static once both armies entrenched. Look at casualty figures
