I must admit I hate normally hate the $$$ associated with the modern NCAA but I love it in this case. This makes things REAL interesting:
It really is a rare case of something being a win-win-win. It's a win for Jakob as he gets the perfect level of competition and perfect venue to work on his 1500m tactics as he comes back from Achilles injury, it's amazing for the fans and it's amazing for Nike/Phil Knight/ORegon.
PS. There was one quote that my source mentioned to me that I thought was interesting but got edited out of the article. He said that in a moment of frustration last year Jakob said, "What do Cole Hocker, Josh Kerr and Yared Nuguse all have in common?" They all won an NCAA 1500m title and owned me in the 1500 at the Paris Olympics."
