I think it is weird and self righteous to name your child after yourself. WTH? Especially when guys name their daughter after them. Paul, Paulette, Thomas Thomasina, Daniel Danielle, Alan Alana
It is definitely weird to name your kid "First Name" + Jr, even if it was more socially acceptable in the past.
I love myself and my hypothetical future kid, but not till the extend of depriving my kid his/her own identity.
I am named after my father and never felt I was deprived of my own identity.
Each posting suggesting it this is "weird" does so on the premise that it is some kind of narcissistic tendency that leads a person to do this. I think that if this is your first though, it is you that it weird.
