It's not just Australia... the rest of Oceania, the caribbean, most of South America and Africa, Southern Asia. All celebrate Christmas in summer weather.

After moving to Oz from the northern hemisphere it definitely took me a few years to get used to Christmas being in June. And being awake in the middle of the night still catches me out sometimes.

It's a summer celebration, cold meats and salad, followed by summery desserts like pavlova, strawberries & cream, fruit salad etc, whilst sitting upside down on the ceiling.
Even in America this happens. Does op think Miami has ever seen snow on Christmas Day? Can you imagine Phoenix without reindeer and snowmen this year guys? What’s the forecast saying for Albuquerque this week?

Actually, it does snow in Israel -- just not very often. I was in Jerusalem one year in January and it snowed -- not very much, but it did. And it also does snow from time to time in Australia, but only in the aptly named Snowy Mountains, and not very much, as they aren't very high.

Well tbf, Jesus really did exist, there's mountains of undeniable proof of his existence. Whether what people said he did is real is the up for debate part.
Even those of us in the southwest celebrate in summer like weather. We’ll be in t shirts, sunshine, decorating cactus and mesquite trees.

In any case I'd expect that area to follow the Mexican custom, not the Anglo Saxon one. Australia was settled by British criminals who would have brought Yule traditions with them.
These traditions aren't about Jesus, noone mentions Jesus when talking about Santa. Whoever doesn't understand this needs to rethink the true meaning of the holiday season.
