Why is the entirety of the CIF-SS Finals run in a parking lot before finishing on a track. What a joke. And then these same people wonder why nobody takes their performances seriously.
People who religiously hate on California have low-IQ syndrome. These same people have only ever seen 4-square block, 10-second snippets of LA & SF and think the whole state is up in flames.

And the course was not measured and not 3 miles, go figure

I somewhat agree, but if you could see the hills at Mt Sac when it's muddy you'd understand that it's not even an option. People are literally falling backward up some of the hills if it's rainy. I think the solution is to move CIF to a different venue, that CAN handle some rain. There's got to be something down there. The other thing to remember is that CIF doesn't even allow HS XC runners to wear spikes.
One thing to keep in mind: California XC meets have about four thousand heats per meet, so even if somehow the whole thing was transferred to Cortland or wherever, the course would be completely different after heat 1,229 anyway.

Dumb post.
CIF-SS is undoubtedly the most difficult gauntlet in the country in a normal year when it doesn't rain like this. It's not even debatable.
On back to back to back to back to back weeks, they have to run League Finals, then CIF Prelims on the brutal hills of Mt. Sac, then CIF Finals again the next week on those same hills, then travel 4-6 hours to Fresno for States on a tough Woodward Park course, then jump on a plane 5 days later for NXN, if you make it, to face kids who have been training and healing from their regional races, and are now preparing specifically for a muddy NXN for as much as a month.
The rain was a blessing this year to So Cal to give them a small break from brutal hills, but they still had to run. Those of you who have the nerve to call Cali 'soft' while their regions were on the couch watching the CA kids run on a live stream last week. You'll do it this weekend again, watching and resting while these kids run, once again, as if their XC lives depend on it. No planes booked yet. No time to train for Portland mud.

Why was the southern section moved from riverside?

CIF Prelims and Finals the next week are always on the hillls at Mt. Sac. If you're not familiar with the Switchbacks or the hill at the reservoir, you should watch a race or 2 on HD Runners. They eliminated a 3rd, brutal hill called Poopout and people lost their minds. It's still a brutal course.
It finishes on the track, in the stadium to make for a great viewing experience, but don't mistake that for making the other 90% of it an easy course. The course is not even close to being safe if it's raining, so they have a road course as a backup plan for safety. Slight hills, but all asphalt until it finishes with the last 300M on the track in the stadium.

Shiny new stadium and a legendary course.

Are you thinking these athletes have control where they are going to race in order to get to state? They just show up and race. I guess that means track can be taken seriously either
