However English is being increasingly added to schools curricula. If they add English in rural schools and rural kids start learning English, then forummers on this website are really gonna cry.

Sport is organized differently in thee two countries, maybe not as much now as years ago, but the Ethiopian federation always exerted more control over their athletes than the KAAA does with theirs. Ethiopia was a Marxist country for many years so there was a bit of unwillingness on their part to have their athletes go to the US and I imagine it would be more difficult for US coaches to recruit there than in Kenya, which is much more "western" than Ethiopia. As a one tine British colony, the school system is more like ours than Ethiopia's and English is much more common and easier to learn than in Ethiopia.

A lot harder to get athletes out. They are not eligible and won't make it through the Embassy. As a result, people often don't bother even trying to recruit it.
Kenya, being a Commonwealth nation has a lot of advantages, in this regard, compared to other African Nations. The more stable and developed a country, the morr likely you will be to get athletes out of there.
It is not necessarily easy, but it is not futile to recruit Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria and Morocco.
Good luck getting someone out of Eritrea, Somalia, Sudan or the Congo. Some good athletes, but the infrastructure is not in place.

Good observation — it’s likely a mix of factors. Language barriers, less exposure to U.S. recruiting pipelines, and possibly stronger local opportunities or federation ties in Ethiopia might make NCAA less appealing or accessible.

Ethiopia is at least as dirty as Kenya, if not more so, but the Ethiopian government protects its runners from any drug busts, like Jamaica with its sprinters. Kenya is a former British colony and a functioning democracy so, though a corrupt 3rd world country, doesn't have the same ability or incentives to protect its distance runners.

Ethiopia's life expectancy is 58 years old and 69% of the country is in poverty with another 18% at risk of poverty. But yes, thank God they are saved from coming to the US.

This must be a joke. There is no testing in the NCAA. The NCAA is a cesspool of doping. As has been mentioned over and over, Saruni competed in America for 4 years. Then as soon as he landed in Kenya he was busted for doping. Why wasn't he ever caught in America ?
Becuz there is no testing. And when American runners are busted, Tygart and USADA accepts lame excuses about tainted beef.
