The two sessions in this video are a month old. But since Jakob is being reported being at altitude camp right now one might have a reason to think he hasn’t had any recent setbacks… Nothing yet about Euros xc in Dec though…

I really hope he skips it. Big year ahead of him with 3 big championships (World Indoors, European Championships, World Championships) plus the three world records he wants. Skipping XC would be a no brainer actually.

He probably should skip one or more of those events. But we just have to wait and see. The problem however might be if the Achilles stops being sore -very tempting to just go for most of what he thinks is fun (everything!). And we know he felt comfortable last season with his indoors engagement: stressed that indoors isn’t necessary or important to do if one has any problems whatsoever. But he said that he had no issues before after China -the Achilles tendon came with no warning. But guess he has to skip something now…
A different matter: I promised you a source for him upping his base training last fall towards more 10000m strength. But I can’t find where I read or heard it -not important; think we both can agree that his training always has been suitable for the 5000m, as I think was your point. And maybe he will release a more fresh insight in his training anyway…
dude are you guys going to make a thread every time he takes a breath?
Think we make or engage in a thread if we feel like -my last one (before this) was about Jakob buying a potato/milk farm that I made a couple of months after reading about the matter, because all of a sudden I saw the parallel to Cheruiyot. -Yes, that’s how childish I am. Makes life a little more bearable….

No World Championships this year
Winning in Budapest this year would be as satisfying as winning last years World Championships. Yes there’s no heats but you have to think about what he can and what he wants do. It’s a world championships, so it’s a big goal for him regardless. Why race European XC when you have three far more important championships in the coming year.
Looking at it now, he isn’t qualified for either the 1500/3000 for World Indoors unless he runs minimum two indoor races (assuming he wants to double there). There’s a 3000 in Madrid on Feb 3rd which is pretty perfect considering how close it is to Granada. Then Lievin is probably the next race with a 1500 on the 19th. Does he go for a WR? Probably not, but then he could a win second double and Geb as the two most successful indoor runners ever.
No wonder he’s always injured watching some of the silly things he does. Why would he try to walk on a strap three feet in the air?
Because he’s playful, and life also is a little about not always being overwhelming serious..?
He’s in his mid 20s though. Chances of world records at 1500 and 5k are starting to dwindle. He has the rest of his life to goof around. “Playing around like he does is a recipe for injury for someone that has to train high volume and intensity. He’s not in middle school.
Is this a reason why he didn’t want his successful dad to coach him anymore. I surmise he wouldn’t put up with the silly risky behavior.

To your two last sentences: What makes you think Jakob couldn’t fool around when he had Gjert as a coach? -Did you watch the scene in the “Team Ingebrigtsen TV series” where Jakob’s father thinks the weather is too bad for training (at Sierra Nevada), and Jakob’s response is to run shirtless in the upcoming snowstorm… Do you really think a son always is under the heal of a dominant father?
