Look at the times from the Ny region in particular. You have a 17:30 boy making a fully paid trip to NXN. I don’t care how hard the course is, those times are pathetic!
What an absolute Joke! nike needs to realign the regions ASAP!

The team side of things is a little better than last year, yet still flawed.

Based on average times:
NY winning team would have placed 4th at NXR NE.
NY #2 team would have placed 8th at NXR NE
We will see how much of a joke NY is at NXN. However, isn’t the winning boy team in NE the strongest in NXR NE history (by a lot)?
I agree that CBA looks very strong and there are some great individuals. However the depth isn’t there to justify two regions.
People have been complaining about this for years. It's almost too much though if you add NY, maybe subtract PA and move them to another region? It's more of a thing on the girls side.
The NY course climbs something like 250ft in a mile and a half, it’s incredibly hard compared the the joke-courses they host in the south/west. The SRs don’t make sense either, it was extremely wet/muddy/slippery but the course is rated as if it was 15s faster than last year. Assuming the course ran even just 10s slow that’s a swing of 8+ SRs.
It's been a long time since NY has deserved it's own region. Basically everyone agrees at this point that NY should definitely be combined with the NE, and yes, this has been stated NUMEROUS times over the past years, but Nike has yet to do anything about it...there are at least maybe 4 other states that would be more than worthy to have their own region where we see deserving teams get left out each fall - Colorado, Utah, Illinois, Texas.

i don't know what you're looking at. the 5th individual from NY ran a 15:54. which was worth a 185 spd rtg. Ive seen years where that would have been a 190+ spd rtg.

He’s probably talking about a 17:30 boy on a NY NXN qualifying team. Both North Rockland and Ward Melville have a guy in their top 7 who ran in the 17:40s at Feds

Times aren't much different than NE teams, besides CBA, who can recruit the best of the best.

this is entirely common in numerous sports. The goal of March Madness is not to get the top 64 teams in the nation into the tournament, but rather the top tier teams and then they let in a ton of shifty conference tournament winners.
Anyone who knows anything about March Madness realizes this is a great thing. The upsets and Cinderella stories dominate the headlines of the first few rounds until the contenders take over. Sometimes Cinderella teams make a deep run and it's amazing.
Now, obviously it's much harder to make a Cinderella run in cross country, but the goal is national representation, not to make sure the 78th best Californian runner gets in instead of the 37th best guy in New England.
This argument needs to end. 59 million people live the states represented by NY and the NE regions of NXN. That is 20 million more than California. The southwest region has 18 million. Let it go. Things will ebb and flow.
Don't forget that NE/NY athletes, until last year, had to choose FL or NXR. Look at FL and track results in recent years. The NE is tremendous. CBA is very good. Haddonfield is very good.
LASTLY - State College deserves an at large. They were 8th last year and ran faster this year.
