Bartlett is the girl that dumpstered Ritzenhein in the final lap at Penn Relays

Bartlett, Dudek and Lowen all underclassmen will be the favorites at NXN followed by proven runners like Ritz and Alder.

The Bartlett run was pretty amazing. She joked that she knows how to run hills now after her second Bowdoin Park race.

Touhy for perspective ran this course about 20 times, which makes Bartlett's time even more remarkable.

Bowdoin is also very good prep for soggy NXN.

On Tuohy, of her many records most believe her Holmdel, NJ race was actually her single best performance. Perhaps next year Bartlett will run there.

NXN will be wide open, so an exciting race.

Now recall they also mentioned Bartlett ran in the Nike Outdoor Nationals 3000 race where Hedengren ran her 8:40 NR. I see Blair was 2nd in 9:21.+. So that would have been as a soph with a tennis & track background?

Watched the race today. So many girls, including one star in regional defending champ Paige Shephard, were seen practically walking up the mountain. Bartlett charged up the course like she was doing hill repeats. Really impressive.

I read where the course was very muddy yesterday - is that correct? Would seem to fly in the face of the SR being "only" 166.

Don't know much about her but I do know that her coach is an a$$hole. Accused Natalie Dumas of doping last year after USAs.

It rained overnight and the course was in bad shape from the very first races. Looking back at the last two years where I believe the course conditions were better, I would say speed ratings this year are about 3-4 points slower than they should be.

Paige struggled throughout that entire race. I saw her coach spazzing out at multiple points. She should sit out both NXN and Brooks because she looks like she’s headed down the wrong path

Blair Bartlett's terrific run at NXR wasn't ignored. It was mentioned in several different threads yesterday.

Yes, Bartlett and Dudek are the NXN and Brooks favorites. (Both of them received golden tickets for Brooks.)

Bartlett played tennis the fall of her freshman and sophomore years. Originally track was a secondary sport for her, but after her great sophomore track season she decided to run xc for the first time this fall.

Her school doesn't run in most of the normal New Jersey meets because her school isn't eligible, which is why she wasn't at the New Jersey state meet. She did run a fast time at Holmdel at the Shore Coaches meet in October, 17:24. She can probably run sub 17 at Holmdel right now, which would be a record for NJ girls on that course, only behind Katelyn Tuohy's totally ridiculous 16:21, which is considered by many people to be one of the greatest xc races of all time.

Bartlett attends a very expensive private boarding school named The Lawrenceville School. Her school likes to emphasize the word "The" so as a joke Bartlett misspelled it "Thee Lawrenceville School" on her entry form for yesterday's NXR race and that's the spelling that shows up in the race results and in the speed ratings.

Bartlett ran 9:55.15 in the 3200 in the spring even though she didn't have a xc base last year, so it's no surprise that she's doing so well this fall. If she could run a 9:55 as a sophomore with no xc base, how fast can she run the 3200 this spring now that she's running xc? My guess is low 9:40s, maybe even slightly below 9:40.

Bartlett says that her parents are active people and like to run, but there doesn't seem to be any information on if her parents were ever competitive runners or if they just run for fun.

I think that Bartlett and Dudek will push each other to some extremely fast times over the next year and a half.

Happy to learn others noticed Bartlett's performance on Saturday. Those posts must have been buried within the "NXR" threads.

Remembering Tuohy's Bowdoin Park CR and how close Bartlett came to that time -- including mention by the Runnerspace announcers Blair was ahead of Katelyn's time at half-way -- thought it reasonable to highlight her Barlett's performance on a separate thread.

Also, rewatching the NXR NE Regional race, noticed Blair was constantly raising a forearm to check her watch or wipe sweat off her face. Doubt it slowed her up but did appear unnecessary to do that so frequently. Maybe she knew the course so well down to each quarter-mile, she was essentially time trialing the race and had a pace in mind she wanted to maintain.

So, with Brooks Regionals this upcoming weekend, interested to see if Bartlett & Dudek race them despite having Golden Tickets.

the course WAS a mess, but it's also just a horrible course for this kind of race. The logistics were bad, the execution of things (parking? traffic? bathrooms?) also poorly done for such a large event. They should change venues.

Bartlett and Paige even went off course for a second and lost a bit of momentum in the first few minutes- also the course seemed to run really fast despite the conditions (10 girls under 18 minutes for the day is unheard of)
