Probably this has been overlooked today amidst all the NCAA talk.
Blair Bartlett, a Jr at Lawrenceville School in NJ, won the NXR NE Regional.
She won by 45 secs to remain undefeated this season.
She was playing tennis this time last year.
But that's not what's amazing.
What's amazing is her winning time: 17:00.6 on the infamously hilly Bowdoin Park 5k course in Wappingers Falls, NY, fully a minute faster than her winning time at the Bowdoin Park Classic back in September.
Which trails only Katelyn Tuohy's 16:45.2 CR as well as her 16:52.4 former CR.
Prior to Tuohy's runs in 2017 & 2018, Aisling Cuffe held the 5k CR in 17:16.9 from 2010.
Forum readers from New York - one I recall having the handle Upper State -- believe Katelyn's 16:45.2 at the 2018 Section 1 Coaches Invitational was the greatest xc race of her hs career.
So now, along comes a xc rookie who runs just 15 secs slower than the acknowledged GOAT of US HS XC racing.
Who is Blair Bartlett? Any NJ/NY xc fans here who can fill us in?
I know a little bit about Natasza Dudek given sister Zofia's career at Stanford which I follow.
Now, are Bartlett & Dudek the NXN (and maybe Brooks if they run that) favorites?
