Ever since I started using leggings last year, I've grown to love being in them & using them for more than just running. First it was keeping them on for the hours after my morning run, to running errands in them, to using them all day. I wish that I could wear them to work.

Well, if you've got the goods to show off with them, all the more power to you. If not, then... short shorts are the way.
Lots of women wear leggings at work. Nothing odd about that at all. You will fit right in.
Unless a woman is a minimum-wage worker (like, works in a preschool where she's going to be sitting on the floor all day, rolling around with kids), or a fitness instructor, I don't think yoga pants specifically are appropriate for the office. Though yoga pants have made inroads as "fashion" because of the obesity crisis.
You should wear your workout clothes at the gym, and then change out of them for several reasons. A) Bacteria. When you sweat, and then continue to wear those clothes, it can create acne. B) Tight clothing resists the lymphatic system, which drains the body's toxins. C) Yeast infections. D) BO
There was a to-do on social media a couple years ago: a few adolescent girls were denied seats on an airplane because they were wearing leggings. This wouldn't have happened if they were normal customers, it was because they were wearing leggings and flying on family vouchers (aka, their parents worked for the airline), so "no leggings" was a part of the rules. The whole issue went on social media and the airline was criticized for sexualizing adolescents girls, but then the airline responded that it was actually a safety measure. Google, "are yoga pants highly flammable." The airline responded that most airplane accidents are survivable, but in case of fire, the pants are highly flammable, and can inhibit their escape.

I don't think the person is saying go workout and then wear them to work. More likely they are saying wear a clean pair to work. Wearing them to work after working out would be gross. Who does that?
