And the caption for a photo titled “Perseverance” makes no mention of Beamish getting back up, advancing from the heat, or winning the final. You know, how he actually persevered after getting his face stomped
Cooper Lutkenhaus in total shock/disbelief after finishing 2nd at USATF is a great pic
Yup, the best part is that his face mirrored the face a lot of us were making when watching that race. I think he was in as much shock and disbelief as all of us. Great photo for an all time great race
Was that Beam pic from the Canon TV man with 120 Global Shutter (freezed) images per second?
The shadow pic is a "Look at me im a Photographer" portfolio pic you conjure up to get a job, after that the writers only want boring centered race pics ;-)
that thumbnail of someone wrapped in American flags stopped me from looking at any of it.
Get the flags out of this sport, it's ridiculous. You're not running for your country, it's not a team sport, other than 4x400 relay. I root for my favorite athlete, not my country.

And yet, unfortunately, the shadows photograph won. Beamish had the heart of a champion. It was an inspiring race to watch. He is the real winner here. A better caption explaining what had happened may have influenced the judges’ decision.
the winning shadows photo is something a high schooler would take at their state meet, it's not actually that good of a photo
Seems more than once they chose a photo taken from above as the winner. Not really fair since only a select few would have access to such an angle.
The Beamish photo Is cropped way in after the fact no way that was the original photo. Surely the photographer was not zoomed in like that at the time the fall happened

And at auto shutter anyone of 50 photographers have the same shot. I have the exact photo of JJK breaking g the AR in the LJ at the 87Pan Am Games in Indianapolis that ended up on the cover of T&F News. My picture had the pro photographers in the foreground. Her peak height and arm/leg rotation was in the exact same position.
Why didn't WA list the company and name of the post-production guys in India who culled the 120 frames per second global shutter footage and entered the winning pic to WA?
