Rewatched the last lap of Grant Fisher’s 5K world record. Gressier was 70 meters behind him at the finish line. Went on to win the 10K and snag a bronze in the 5K
Did anyone have a bigger come up this summer? I would argue this was a bigger upset than Nader and Beamish
I wouldn't call Beamish much of an upset. He was always going to be a contender IF healthy. Still impressive to beat El Bakkali, but Gressier was never in the conversation.
Nader is probably equally an underdog as Gressier but got luckier with like the top 5 guys all not in the 1500 final this year

BULL HONKEY indoor "world record" especially at notorious Boston.
BULL. HONKEY. Say "world record" when he beats 12:35 outdoors.
Indoor tracks are BANKED i.e. they CHEAT. The banking all but eliminates any centripetal force needed to make the turn; they are effectively running in a straight line. So it's faster than outdoor at 3000 and 5000, sometimes 1500 too. That's literally the only reason anyone runs a 5000 indoors at all, to CHEAT.
Why aren't all the indoor WR's faster? Because it's the off season. Nobody hits their yearly peak in the winter, except idiots like Eamonn Coghlan.
Real world elites know this well, that's why only the Americans and Euros bother with indoors. They are the ones with something to prove. You don't see clean WR holder Hagos Gebrhiwet going for some joke "indoor world record." And you don't see any of these indoor superheroes winning the big ones outdoors either. Not even Eamonn Coghlan.

Gebrhiwet the “clean wr holder”…take that junk somewhere else. Troll vs grossly ill informed.
Getting tired of the Nader slighting. Dude has the dog in him. He's a 1:43, 3:29, 3:48 mile guy. Let's start putting respect on his name.
Agreed.
2025: Bronze at Euro Indoors. 4th at World Indoors. Won Oslo DL (arguably one of the bigger 1500/mile races of the year). 3rd in London. 4th in Brussels. 2nd in Ostrava. 2nd in Lieven indoor. Won Euro Team Champs. 7th fastest PB for the year. (and 5th fastest indoors).
Honestly there's not a lot more the guy could have done during the year to put himself as one of the outside chances to win worlds.

Isaac Kimeli maybe. Just shows how crazy the year was.

Coghlan was World Champ in the outdoor 5k in ‘83. Then he was injured. Basically the end of elite running for him.
If you think Gebrhiwet is clean, you are indeed a moron. Hagos sure collapses when there’s a true chance of facing an actual test, like the recent WC 5k in Tokyo. But seeing as you are the idiot here, you’ll go into denial mode.
Learn to use colloquialisms better. “Bull honkey” is ridiculous. From your other posts we know you hate white people, and can’t resist using “honkey”, but at least learn how to use it, you dumb-shi*.
Btw, back in the day there was little money in the sport. Coghlan was able to maximize by going after indoor races which used to be heavily promoted. But a myopic, low IQ savage like you wouldn’t understand that.

He arguably had a better year than Hocker, Kerr, or Wightman when they won their titles.

Why are you surprised? Both Gressier and Beamish have excellent kicks. Championships are almost never time trials, where the runner with the fastest PB wins. Championships are usually won by a runner applying a superior kick at the perfect moment. Nader won the 1500 doing this as well.

got a theory, indoors are not the be all and end all
Gressier is a good runner who brought the A game
as we see at the last Worlds, bringing your A game is a good idea.
