While true, Nike has to keep them and Shelburrito happy...

There is a long line of failed MALE marathoners. Jerry was a College coach with zero marathon experience. Shalane was an outlier that brought in Kara until it didn’t work and then brought in Amy. IT WAS SHALANE not Jerry.
Guys that should be marathoners failed miserably. Chris Derrick should have been great but he didn’t have a coach that understands the marathon.

Do not agree that Derrick should have been a marathoner. The dude barely trained in college. Most of the other guys were running the marathon at the tail end of their career for the pay day debut.

When Mary Cain came out with her story, I remember how quick BTC women were to jump on it accusing Salazar of abuse, and saying that nothing like that would ever happen in their group. It seems like a lot of people are supporting Emily. it just feels like they know what she's talking about.

Weird this is all coming out now.

She has shared a similar story in the past regarding sponsors maybe around the time of her bronze medal. Not sure if this is the same story.

Emily had an insane injury history with BTC. She has every right to be bitter about it imo.

On a podcast Infeld said Jerry would make her do 20 mile runs with no hydration or gels, now wonder he can't coach the marathon

Why is Shalane bad? I used to compete against her back in the day. She was always painfully thin and obviously anorexic. Does she push that on her runners?

I think everyone at BTC was ok with whatever nonsense was going on, as long as they were getting results. Then the Eugene move broke them, or whatever reason emerged for some individuals like Nike's reductions, injury cycle, etc. Similar to any other job.

Makes me wonder just how long the life of track club is. Like, how long will On in Boulder last? ZAP finally bit it. Hansons Brooks still around, but not as high profile. NAZ Elite past its hey day.

And then she pushes her cookbooks like she eats any of that stuff.

I’ve always been sort of naive about all the grey area stuff and off label uses of drugs. But for sure BTC was into all of that.

Back in the beginning there were few top, top clubs other than BTC. There are a few more now, plus people staying with college coaches. This is good. Hope it can give the athletes more autonomy going forward.

Hmm they had some decent marathoners on the women’s side. Kellyn, Steph Bruce. Krissy Gear was with them when she won the steeple trials. Aliphine won the marathon trials. Also fan favorite Scotty Faubs.

Remember when everyone was wearing Hokas? I’m glad those days are (mostly) behind us.
