SAG surely would not have required a pneumonia vaccine. Anyway she was a tremendous actress.
what's a "pneumonia vaccine?"
A pneumonia vaccine is a vaccine against bacterial pneumonia caused by S.pneumonia. There are two types; Pneumovax - a starch based (polysaccharide) vaccine that provides partial protection against 21-serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae
Prevnar - (PCV7) which is a protein-conjugated vaccine that contains purified capsular polysaccharides from seven Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes that are conjugated to a carrier protein (CRM197).
May she RIP. She was a great actress. A reminder to the elderly to get your vaccinations.
It may or may not have helped but it is def a great reminder. Although any decent doc will be pushing to check that box at the right age. If you or your parents are old, getcha vaccines, your screens, and FALL PEVENTION!

Huh - didn't know there was a vaccine for pneumonia. The more you know...

It's not typically given to healthy young people. So if you don't have risk factors and are below a certain age, doctors are not going to recommend it. Conversely, over a certain age, most doctors will recommend getting one.

There's a vaccine against Streptococcus pneumoniae, which is a frequent and serious cause of pneumonia. That vaccin is a lot more effective than the Covid vaccin and offers a good protection against S. pneumoniae.
But the catch is you can get pneumonia by a lot of other bacteria and viruses, and a vaccin against S. pneumoniae will not protect you against those bugs.

Lots of elderly people with the proximate cause being pneumonia that likely is brought on by another disease. In the 80s people had AIDS and died and often it was the pneumonia that was the nail in the coffin, almost literally.
