Multiple sources with knowledge of the inner workings of Bill Belichick's program say that UNC football's losses are a product of a divided locker room, a disorganized coaching staff and a failure to communicate.
If he is fired his buyout is $30 million + the need to buyout all of his assistant coaches. He won't resign unless he has something else lined up and I doubt he will get another coaching job so it would have to be as a broadcaster. I don't see that happening either; he is not nearly "likeable" enough.
I think he wants out, and fast. Can you imagine being in his position? Eight more games and it’s not looking like he’ll win any of them. He’s going to negotiate.
Bill leaving is a win-win. The Chapel Bill shirts are no longer quite as popular around North Carolina. Belichick has an insane legacy and if he cuts this off tomorrow he can probably salvage it and this will all be a funny misstep. If he sticks around to a humiliating 2-10 with blowouts left and right, it’ll be what is remembered.
I think the real question is what Jordon’s next move will be.
Meanwhile, Mack Brown is sipping a bourbon somewhere smiling.
Is there enough booster $ around UNC to both buyout BB's staff's contracts and still support basketball and the rest of the AD? UNC is probably committed to this experiment for a couple more seasons, given how much they are overpaying for football non-players. Even with BB's coaching acumen, it was ludicrous to think they would be playing in the ACC championship in his first year there.

I mean its insane to fire a guy who has coached 4 games total AND with 70 new players. But indeed he does some things that don't help his case. He should be laser focused on coaching, NIL, and recruitment. You don't lose the ability to be the greatest defensive coach of all time. When he was hired my first guess was some rich dude(s) backed some sort of limitless NIL money so he could get whoever he wants. You can do that now. Any team can become an SMU overnight or an Alabama if you got $. NC has no track record in football.
Other than the issues with BB’s coaching and personal life, the toxic culture and the legal issues that are starting to surface, the lame offense, defense, and specialty teams—UNC football is a well-oiled machine.
According to this reporter someone at UNC is leaking info on the situation. He discovered that there are ongoing investigations into more legal improprieties. He specifically mentions NIL money. This is what UNC needs to get out of paying BB all the buyout money. A running back quit the team, but I'm not sure if it is related.
