Good news for the Botswana 800m legend, who served a doping ban.
Hopefully, he will be able to produce good middle distance runners in Iran. Iran shines in basket ball 🏀 (several NBA players), wrestling and little else.

My bad for typo in the title....it's Nijel, not Nigel.
Good luck to him and good luck to Iran - hopefully this guy will produce some Iranian champion 800 meter runners in the 143 to 145 range.

Just checked the Iranian records, and they're actually pretty decent. 1:44.74 for 800 from Sajjad Moradi, in 2005! 3:36.92/1500 in 2025 from Amir Zamanpour. 5000/10,000 records in Iran are weak at 13:50/29:22, as well as marathon at 2:17:14 (2023). There's definitely a lot of room for improvement and Iran has some high altitude places which would be perfect for training camps.
Yeah it's just great news for the sport when guys who have served doping bans (and probably cheated the majority of their careers) show up in nations like Iran to "coach" athletes.

Good news. Good news.
The guy served his time and he deserves a second chance. Nobody is perfect. Let's hope this works out for him. Iran has some incredible basketball players, some of them in the NBA, so let's see if this guy can produce some world class middle distance runners especially at 800 meters and 1500 meters. The current record stands at 1:44.74 and 3:36. I see no reason why he can't bring those records down to 1:43.00 and 3:32.00.
Iran could become the new Algeria or Morocco of middle distance running. This is exciting news.
I've always been impressed by Iranians who migrated to Western Nations because of their general hard-working nature and their culture which seems to espouse learning and education. They tend to be atypical migrants and very rarely scrounge for economic freebies (welfare) in their new adopted countries.
People should not confuse the government of Iran with the people of Iran with the latter usually being very forward thinking and progressive.
At least it doesn't matter if his body gets hit by radiation from the bombed nuke facilities. All those carcegenic SARMs he was injecting have probably written his fate already.

You focus on negativity, in all your posts. Not healthy. Not advisable for your own health and longevity.
Better headline is "Banned Doper convinces terrorist regime with no morals that he's their guy in an attempt to develop "better" cheats in the future"
Well, while that's true, the US has had its share of doping coaches (Drummond, Graham, Kersee, Mitchell, Salazar...). 2nd or 3rd or 4th chances for everyone!

Sir, your two decade obession with defending convicted dopers, including ones like this guy who was caught taking 'research' drugs that were stopped because they caused lab rats to develop tumors in every cell in their bodies - is not healthy. Not healthy for you, and not healthy for the poor guys like Amos who will probably be gone soon like Bett and all the other young East African runners who have dropped dead early (the winner of the Swedish marathon just the other day).
GW501516 (also known as GW-501,516, GW1516, GSK-516, cardarine, and on the black market as endurobol) is a PPARδ receptor agonist that was invented in a collaboration between Ligand Pharmaceuticals and GlaxoSmithKline in the...

AR discus 69.32 for Ehsan Haddadi
Greek record 64.90
Take that, Alexander! Persian revenge.
No sub 45 400 guys either, that was the traditional main race distance in the Greek games. Slower at 100m. Oh man, Greece has fallen hard hasn't it

Booking my flight for next summer. Altitude stint in Iran here we come!
Feel free to PM me. I have some personal contacts in Iran. They live in Western countries - Canada and the UK.
Not sure if you're being serious (suspect not) but if you are, there are options. There are some ski resorts near the capital, Tehran, which might be suitable.
Getting a visa for Iran is not as difficult as people might think. US citizens need to apply to visit Iran through a pre arranged Tour agency with guides. I think Euro citizens can travel more freely without an agency overseeing your travel to Iran.
Good luck.

He does know which drugs and peptides to use, without a doubt!

The same as Aouita in Australia, or Jams Aden in Qatar. As you’re likely well aware, think of Dennis Mitchell being so involved in USA athletics as well. It’s surely embarrassing for a country, and just doesn’t seem right.

The true plot twist would be if Coevett and Passant turned out to be the same person.
