Only 1 US male and 2 US females were able to hit the OT standard today. It was 72 degrees and 20mph winds. I ran slower today than I did in 2018 at Boston when it was 38 degrees rain and 20mph winds.

You are 7.5 years older now. Of course you ran slower.

No one in that race was capable of running the OT standard.

As runners we don't like to talk about our times unless asked. So I will ask you. Sir what was your time at 2018 Boston and what was your time yesterday ? Also what's your age ?

Haha. Good point. I am not going to put my exact times so that the sleuths on this board can find ways to criticize my times and training and everything else. I am still in my 30s and ran 2 pbs in the HM this year and my training was never better than this summer/fall. I ran just over 2 minutes faster at Boston in 2018 than I was able to run in the Twin Cities yesterday. My HM split in both races was within 5 seconds.
Its hard to say exactly how much slower it was but about 3-5 Minute range for faster runners.
Speaking to few elites they all trained for about 4 minute faster of that they ran and they also where about 3-4 minutes of their PR. I believe mentally it was harder knowing before race that it will not be a fast race and people didnt want to push too much to blow up. The course and crowd was great and the 16mph south wind helped to cool off but hindered if you were not in a group. I spoke to Man winners and women top 2 and they both believed they were in fitness to run 3-5 minutes faster then what they ended up running. So it wasn't as bad but it also was not ideal to run fast times because of the 2 factors. 70 degrees and 16mph headwind at some points. But it was a great weekend and congrats to all runners who tried their best.

OK in fairness, was it really that hot? I know one would want it cooler of course. Are you in similar fitness as in 2018?
”that hot”? It wasn’t brutal, so it wasn’t a significant effect on time?
”Hot” is one thing, and 20mph winds are another. And do you get enough evaporative cooling from the winds to offset the downside effect? The answer is no. On a loop course, is the tailwind-crosswind-headwind effect neutral for winds in a roughly consistent direction? Tha answer is no.
Yeah. Maybe it’s not the worst situation, and OP might be overstating the case.
But lots of people act as though >70 Fahrenheit isn’t a big deal, even with moderately high humidity. At least humidity wasn’t bad at Twin Cities, but let’s not minimize the effect of a dew point averaging above 55. It’s very different from temps in the 40s and a dew point of 30 or so.
Those that were capable did. Those that weren’t did not. Don’t blame the weather, glass in your shoe or an upset stomach from your bicarb. If you think you deserve to be in the OT in 2028, then get it done.
