I've been wondering about this too, in terms of where Jakob sits against all 1500-5000m athletes in 2025.
I don't think there have been any particular overwhelming standouts. Hocker salvaged a pretty mediocre season with his 5000m win, but I wouldn't say he is head and shoulders above anyone else.
In some regards, Nader was more consistent indoors and outdoors and topped it off with a 1500m crown. So maybe he deserves top spot?
Jakob's indoor season, however, was probably the best ever, and that counts for something. And to make the 5000m final and perform better than the likes of Mills and Almgren was quite impressive.

Actually, I'll make a thread on this very topic later today
Jakob and probably Kerr, need to start looking at the marathon. They both already run quite a lot of half marathons and they are fairly strong on endurance. They could be beasts and extend their commercial value for years to come.
running a 13:02 5k while being out of shape is insane! Imagine if he did not get injured and brought that indoor shape to this outdoor season OMG, what would the world have seen? WOW!
Well OP, Jakob did make the final in the 5k, and at least he tried, but time lost to injury kept him far from peak performance. Kerr had a long season overall and was taken down by injury. In terms of success, looking only at outdoors, I’d say both had lousy years considering their previous standards (Olympic medals, World medals).
2 World Records, 4 Gold Medals, and placed higher in the 5000. What an athlete.
Based on medals yes, jakob had a better year. based on hopes and dreams jakob's career is in dire jeopardy. i dont see how he returns to 3:26 racing again.
13:02 is not an insane time. 12:02 is. You exaggerated. With the shoes, 13:02 is yesterday's 13:22. So just see it as he ran 13:22 like in 2019. The era when the wr was still 12:37

I believe Jakob needs some stimuli from pine trees and wild animals. He needs to try ultra marathoning. Tom Evans who ran world cross won mont blanc this year.
Not sayin but just sayin she looks really pretty. I never seen a male athlete so demure and dainty in my life. WTF is going on with our athletes? Why don't men look, talk like men, women look, talk like women?
Only East Africans like Kenenisa Bekele and Joshua Cheptegei look, talk like a man.
what a strange strange year. enjoyed it a lot. but who want's a repeat?
where, in the potential race of the century, where five guys hocker, goose, jacob, kerr, laros, ... suppose kessler isn't quite there, but non of them had close to their A game, or totally injured, or mostly injured ..
none of them.
and all the running races, having like the sum total of first and second at one second total, isn't in the realm of possibility, but it happened.
ready for some traditional and even boring races after that. where the best man wins, not the luckiest fella with a one off A game,
basically, this year is proof that this world is a virtual reality, a simulation, and somebody a mad archon god, programmed in matrix gllitches. this is the only explanation.
