Interesting to hear his rationale on choosing altitude over heat adaptation training... I wonder if that came back to bite him in the race? Or if it didn't matter, who knows.
Excited to see him run in the Izumo Ekiden soon though!
Great video and seems like a good guy. Gives you an idea of what it's like to be a pro runner preparing for a global championship. Doing the workouts isn't the hard part at this point in the season. The real challenge is managing the travel and adapting to new places while at the same time staying mentally fresh. Also, there's a lot of down time which can grind on you mentally. I hope he finds a quality group to train with somewhere in the States, the sooner the better so he can get dialed in the next few years gearing up for L.A. 2028.
this was fun to watch. I'm curious, though, how do the Americans adjust to the time difference. I've been to Japan and China many times, from the US East Coast, and that is a rough time change, almost literally flipping the day. How far in advance do they arrive in the time zone, and do they just flip thier schedules, or do they ease into it???
Graham exhibits bad forefoot mechanics for a 5/10k runner. It's just weird. He won't last too long in this profession. It looks forced and obliging unlike beatrice chebet's stern foot strikes which agrees more closely with the Lagrangian field theory L = T - V also known as circle space-time.
Chebet moves like a perfect circle like the ratio of phi or ratio of circle radius to circumference aka purrrfection! Check out all her tokyo 5/10k vids. Graham? He runs like a rectangle but I'm sorry it's not a sustainable way to run with sharp edges and jerky forefoot strikes.

I bet you had wonderful things to say about Chepngetich as well...
Blanks is a 12:48 guy straight out of college and two-time NCAA champ over absolute top notch competition, including Nico Young, Ky Robinson, and Samuel, so if he ever gets a gear shift and a kick, he will be competing for world medals.

In next couple of years, he will be the American 5/10k records holder.
