Time for the decathlon and men's discus!
We’ve changed the thread title many times. At one point, it was called: Tokyo 2025 World Athletics Championships Day 8 Live Discussion Thread - US men bomb out of 4 x 400, Jamaica men bomb out of 4 x 100
Time for the decathlon and men's discus!
I didn’t know Mykolas Alekna has an older brother who’s also an elite discus thrower. Is there a Team Alekna reality show in Lithuania?
With Jakob not at his best, Warholm’s disappointment, and Markus Rooth out with injury, there’s a lot of pressure on Sander Skotheim to win gold for Norway.
Damian Warner out. Father Time always wins.
Chase Jackson auto qualifies for final on first throw in shot.
American men in trouble after Group A in discus(s). Best is 8th place and only 12 go to the final. Group B to come.
Race walking >>>>> 1500m
Ramsey and Ewen officially eliminated from the shot. Jackson auto-qualified, Ross passed her last throw knowing she will make it in. Jagers already dropped to 11th after only 5 throws. He won't advance. Only US hope in discus is Gustaveson.
Kyle Garland on the ropes. Was in second after the 100m, fouled on his first two attempts in the long jump. If he fouls on #3, he's done.
Whoa!!! Garland responds to the pressure with a season best 7.92!
All the race walkers full on running right now

Its the only event they wont do slow motion for
Talyah Brooks with a HUGE PB in the long jump 6.79, about 16 inches further than the current 2nd best jump. Anna Hall with a bad opening, currently 14th in the long jump.
Brooks has taken a slight overall lead over Hall right now by 11 points
Hall with a solid 2nd round jump, moves back into the lead by about 100 points.
Getting late, think I'm going to get some sleep so I can be up for the morning events.
Can some coach out there get a hold of Anna Hall and TEACH HER HOW TO LONG JUMP??? Her run-up SUCKS, and her in air coordination and landing are worse! For someone so talented, it is HORRIBLE to the Nth degree!
Thiam's absence made her rusty

KJT is a very good javelin thrower and the javelin is one of Brooks's worst events. Wouldn't be surprised to see KJT in 2nd and Brooks out of the top-3 heading into the 800m.
I think I confused two athletes. O'Connor from Ireland is an excellent javelin thrower and KJT is an excellent 800m runner, about as good as Hall. Either way, the last two events are not the best for Brooks and I see both of these women ahead of her when it's all over.
USA RELAY REMAINS A RUNNING JOKE 😂😂😂😂😂
