I think it would have been more of a choke if he would have done stupid moves tactically. In this case he just didn't have the best condition on the day. Peaking is hard
He did, but it really does demonstrate how important experience is.
Kerr being injured completely derailed his strategy. He was hoping to go through 400 in the 50 somethings (lowish), and win the race in and around 3.30, kicking off Kerr.
But that race never materialised. It was an 800 runners dream and he should have put the pedal down far sooner.
You *have* to react to the first lap.

Nah, he was cooked from too much racing. Dude has been closing in 12.5 all season and it deserted him when it mattered most. He had nothing to even retain a medal position when Wightman ran away from him
Pressure maybe, but the last 300 was very fast from wightman and Nader, even the last 800 seems to be 1:47 high. I don’t think thats in his toolbox. He needs a decent pace so that it tires the sprinters but not so fast that it tired him out. 2:49-2:51 would have been perfect through 1200. Even then, he probably wouldn’t have won that way.

Yeah, Laros choked. Nader proved EPO is a helluva drug. Kerr was not going to win this anyway. He didn’t look top form in the earlier rounds.

If he'd tried that he would have had to lead from gun to tape. He let Tim have a go at leading, but Tim didn't do enough.
He looked nervous as hell at the start, taking deep breaths. How many favorites have won 1500m global championships since El G, and he choked twice in the Olympics and had to have teammates as pacemakers to win his WC golds.
Would have been epic to have Wightman win, but sadly another doped up Moroccan has taken away a golden moment from the sport.

I would say Kerr looked solid in the heat, but in semi he did look awful compared to Laros and Wightman.
Just remembering that Jakob got 4th in Doha, when he was 2nd on form. So for Laros he can turn this into fuel before big PBs and a triumph 2 years later.

It will be in his toolbox eventually. He’s only 20 and has been developing remarkably well. That said, he was whipped today. Great return to form by Wightman. Too bad such an obvious case of chemical abuse pipped him at the line.
Laros was running 38s in 3:29, 3:30 races. is it really possible he can't run faster in a race that's 4-5 seconds slower?
I say didn't time peak well, but honestly, I think some people just don't have a physiology that peaks like others. That might be more of a god's gift than training secret. Or maybe a 50/50 type thing.

Well yeah, some people can close faster in a slower race.

Cry more, you racist POS. I laughed when the Portuguese guy won because I knew you would have a meltdown. Nader has the medal, you have your tears. Oh yeah!
