After the surprise results in the 10000 and Steeple, and the chaos of the 1500 heats, will the stronger guys prevent the 5000 from coming down to a kick?
Thinking about how it might play out, if it's looking like a 13:20-13:30 race, we're back in chaos territory and leaving the door wide open for fast finishers like Hocker, Laros, Gressier and Kimeli. There's no way for people like Fisher and Young to win in that race, and a good chance they get run out of the medals.
So, do we finally see some sort of cooperation between the stronger runners who can't close in 13 seconds? A group of Fisher, Young, and Mills could theoretically take on the pace, make it a sub-13 race and run the finish out of Hocker and Laros. It's the best hope for those guys. I doubt they'll do it, everyone backs themselves in a kick (except Almgren, it seems) even if all evidence points to someone else being a better kicker.
