That’s a pretty realistic list given how the rounds have played out. Kerr looks sharp and Laros seems fearless, but I wouldn’t sleep on Wightman in a championship final—he always knows how to position himself when it counts.
Kerr finishes fourth despite injuries taking out Jakob and Cole taking himself out with the aid of zealous officials. To me Kerr didn’t look that comfortable.
Barring disaster Laros is the favorite. It looked cool as a cucumber while Kerr was fighting for his life in that semi. Kerr is not the guy.
Laros, Wightman, Kerr
I do not believe he was fighting for his life. That said, Laros has looked better all year. I called Kerr after the GST wins vs. Cole/Nuguse, but Laros seems stronger. Kerr has a lot more experience and success at this level, so perhaps that will be enough to overcome the closing speed gap if Laros gets boxed or something.
Laros is the favorite but I'm going to go with Kerr just to be more fun. Kerr stays near the front, Laros trusts his kick too much and gets boxed. Kerr takes it from 500 out like he did at Prefontaine in 2024 vs. Jakob, and Laros can't quite make up the 1.x second gap between him and Kerr at the bell. Wightman keys off Laros and follows through the gaps for bronze.
It has to be Laros. He was testing how easily he could beat those guys in that semi. Imagine what it looked like if he let it rip on the last 100m. He would’ve made a mockery of them. I just don’t see how it’s not going to be Laros.

"Always" doesn't apply to him.
he's only 31 which is getting up there I guess but he's not well into his 30s. Also, remember that Nick Willis got a bronze at the olympics when he was 33, so it's not unheard of.
