heat 3 of the 800 first round is rough (lutkenhaus in trouble?)

I thought this would be a nothing burger, but in fact that is a tough heat. However, Cooper has already exceeded expections just by making the team, this is all gravy. Wish him the best.

Well that’s a gigantic difference lol. Lutkenhaus is now the guy having the best season and the best finisher. If he’s still in his form, I like his chances.

Heat 6 is the real heat of death: Crestan, Burgin, Meziane, Masalela. That’s 4 legit potential finalists. Only relief is Masalela’s form is fading. Navasky Anderson is also an agent of chaos in that heat.

He’s an agent of chaos in many ways. You don’t want to be next to him in the stretch.

All the other guys are in trouble. Lutkenhaus is just fine.

Alzofairi hasn't finished an 800 since May

Tual who was 6th at French Championships and not running well

Pattinson who was last at British champs and not running well

Lutkenhaus is the in form guy.

Pattison has been trending upwards since British champs, got down to 1:44 in the week or so afterwards. I think Lutkenhaus will be OK for the heats, I can't see him getting out of the semi.

Heat 6 will probably end up being the fastest. Burgin won't leave that to chance so he'll front run something pretty strong.

The 800 is insane this year. The semi's will be all worthy of being a final.

I love it. The US can have everyone in the final or no one.

This. He's already far exceeded any reasonable expectations. He's probably about 4 years ahead of schedule in reaching world's. Getting beat to the line and missing the semis is good experience and a learning moment. Even better if he makes it through, but Cooper has already won this year.

Doesn't really matter. The kid ain't making it out of the heats. He's in waaaay over his head. He's a 16-year old kid. The 1:42 was a one-off fluke.

I would not bet my mortgage if I were you….if the previous few days’ finishes are any indication, he who has the most pure foot speed will spell the difference…and young Mr. Lutkenhaus can match those in his heat and more.
