Jakob Ingebrigtsen is by far the biggest flop of the World Championships
Andersen for sure. She had the #1 and #2 longest throws in the world in 2025 coming in. But it is a stupid statement to say, "she's never finished in the top 8 outside the Americas" - while true, she won the World Championship in 2022 (in Eugene).
Lyles barely had a season due to injury and still got a medal in his non-preferred event and you're calling that a flop? Maybe if he screws up the 200 then sure

Nah, Lyles did fine. A bronze in the marquee event, the event that isn't really his domain, is a solid return. His days of gold in the 100 are done but he's a had a great career in the event.

The guy is not clutch. He isn't good enough for the top level. Yeah, he'll win some "local meets" in US but cannot mix it with the Europeans or Africans
I'd say Fisher and Nico, both went backwards when the running started, after a big discussion about spending a year working on his kick.
The recipe to beat Lyles is simple: ignore his antics and run faster than his PB.
I don't think Nico flopped. He was only .6 behind 3rd and made a big improvement over his performance last year. He was just out of position and had to go wide on the last curve. Hopefully, he will learn from the race Fisher just gave up at the end.
