I used the speed 3 with no issues. The speed 4 is noticeably firmer and my right calf is hurting during easy runs. Has anyone else experienced this?

I haven't tried it, but read reviews reporting similar issues.
Wow! I am experiencing the exact same issue rn, crazy to see a thread for it as I am, yet again, dealing with acute tendinitis to which these shoes probably contributed
For me, the Speed 4s feel laterally unstable at slower paces (i.e. work the post and anterior tibs more) and then the cushion is cashed by 300-350 miles. That's not to say they're a bad shoe, but I've had to be intentional with using them and it seems critical to have strong calves and ankles. Of course, for lack of a better workout shoe, I did pick up a pair of the 5s which theoretically have a little more support - we will see
I rolled and sprained my ankle last week and broke my 5th metatarsal. I was wearing the Speed 4 and had about 90 miles on them. I was doing threshold work around 5:30 - 5:40 pace at the time and took a wrong step on the side of the road. I've been wondering if the shoes played any part in it, and will definitely be hesitant to put them back on. I loved the 2's. The 3's not as much. But didn't have problems with either of them.
I have the Speed 4s and I like them. I wear them only once a week for speed work. Typically with the warm up and cool down I'm putting 5-6 miles on them each time. No issues here. I don't think it's good to do all of your training in a plated shoe even if it's a nylon plate.

That's the same for me, just once a week for a threshold run plus warm up and cool down. I like them and I can't even tell that they're plated.
I do all my other runs in the Adidas Evo SL which I think are just as good for threshold runs and pretty much perfect for everything else except race pace.
The speed is notorious for running injuries in my local running group. I had extremely tight calfs after using them for a faster 10-miler and then a few days later something was going on with my heel that took months to settle🙁
