It's the NYC debut for both of them. Nine weeks between Sydney and NYC. I could definitely see Hassan winning, though she'll have to get through the last three NYC champs in Lokedi, Obiri, and Chepkirui.
Between the hills and short recovery time, I don't think Kipchoge will contend, but he will be able to pick up his seven-star medal at the finish line.
If only Kipchoge was never scared to run real marathons with any sort of hills and actually trained for them he could've won all the majors instead of wasting time running London and Berlin every year.
Then again NYC favors hobby joggers and influencers so I could see why it never enticed him.

Hassan may actually win all the majors. She’s already won London, Chicago, Sydney, and the Olympics. Halfway there.
I would love to see Sifan Hassan win another major. The way she goes into challenges and loves/embraces the pain cave makes her a lot like Courtney Dauwalter in trail running or Jessie Diggins in cross country skiing. So fun and inspiring to watch. But also Lokedi, Obiri and Sisson are easy to root for, so I'm likely to be happy about who wins on the women's side. Molly Seidel gets a lot of hate on here, but I really hope she ignites her comeback and does well for herself.
I had not looked at the NYC elite field until now and there are some interesting debuts in here! Joe Klecker I think has been anticipated for a bit, but Charles Hicks and Charles Philibert-Thiboutot caught my eye. Honestly, great move by Hicks to dive into the marathon while he's young, maybe he thinks he can become Mantz-level competitive/doesn't want to grind out track 10ks for a few years (me neither man). CPT is running the 1500m at worlds for the last time. This must be a fun retirement sendoff for him after a long career as Canada's best miler, as NYC does not have pacing jobs. Or is he trying to start a career on the roads at 34? Karoline Grovdal making her debut as well will be interesting. Wonder How Hillary Bor will do.
Very excited to watch Obiri + Lokedi + Hasaan battle it out. I guess Chepkirui deserves to be in the mix as well. I know Hasaan destroyed Obiri + Lokedi in Paris, but Obiri had a short build coming back from injury and Lokedi was an alternate and was prepared but not to the extent you'd like to be. I'm excited I'm not running NYC this year so I can watch this!

Kipchoge is there to spread goodwill and collect a check. No pressure on him.
Hassan on the other hand is there to win. I'm impressed she thinks she can compete so soon after Sydney. Seems very bold even for her, but then again she won in Paris 36 hours or less after the 10, 000 final and after rounds of the 5000, so I guess 9 weeks is an eternity for her if she's fit.
Anyway, I'm a fan. We all need more Sifan in our lives.
