How old are you? Maybe still time to study and get a good paying job? Then you can save and invest 10-15 % of monthly paycheck 10-20 years and finish your older years wealthy. Looking forward to better days and don't get stuck in old mistakes is the way to go.

As previously mentioned, there still may be options to alter your career path. Years ago, a 40 yr. old friend hated his accounting job and career prospects. He quit and went to work at the local warehouse store. I would shop and find him working in different departments. Then several months later, he was fast tracked into management. Eventually, he became a store manager for this major warehouse chain making unbelievable money. More importantly, he hated his previous cubicle-bound, number-crunching job and did something about it. He now works with people and loves what he does while making big money.

How old are you? Go back to school. Take classes at your local community college and pick up a trade. It pays well if you are conscientious about the profession.

Has nothing to do with the sport and only to do with you not planning for your future. But ya tons of kids waste their college opportunity not learning useful things from a good degree. Seems the worst ratios are with football and basketball, but lots of people in other sports still choose majors that aren't going to do much for them. It has been beat into their heads that simply going to college is going to make them super successful, but you also need to get a good degree. You can major in pretty much anything, but a lot of majors do not translate to jobs. STEM and business degrees probably have the best translation. And then throw in a few others.

Boo hoo to you. You must be a devoted and helpful coach, with a positive resume like that! By the way, I set a world record in the 5000 after a mediocre high school career and a brilliantly-improved career at a top-ranked academic univerisity despite having chosen a challenging major. I won 320 Olympic gold medals in running, had my pick of excellent jobs post-running career, and now I live off the fat of the land. Because I said so on this forum, it must be true.

That's the norm here 99.9% of haters make 40-50K a year. Running is not really a career unless you medal at WC/Olympics and in the marathon gotta win some majors. Otherwise yes kids waste their lives. I consider my self an avid runner and I enjoy watching some events, but I do have a real degree that fortunately pays very well. I feel sorry for those kids chasing the dream of becoming elite athletes and wasting an education.

Stop whining and do something about it!

Use the disciplines you gained from track and apply it to your career. Its a stepping stone to greater things.
