It's weird that Henrik says "5k pace at altitude is supposed to hurt" (8:24).
63/64 is closer to 10k pace for Jakob, I think
I don’t know. 63.5 is like 26:27 10000m pace, which is likely beyond Jakob’s range at this time. He is probably closer to 26:50. But we are all speculating.
ok, so this was run on 28 AUG, correct? If so, I would think he’s looking very good for Tokyo. 2.5 weeks to sharpen off that seems plenty.
However, I wasn’t clear from the recent NRK reports whether he’s had more setbacks since then. Can anyone clarify?
Nobody knows. Jakob has purposely obfuscated timelines and setback details. Personally, I like it, it builds the anticipation. While I don’t think he’ll win the 1500, it would not surprise me to see him near or at his best.

not sure why you got a lot of downvotes. I would say, he's probably slightly faster, maybe 26:30-40 shape right now, but 26:50 still sounds fair to me coming off an injury.
Anyway, if he can do a 20 x 400m with only 40s rest in between and the fact it looked to be an easy workout. It gotta be considerably slower than his 5k pace. I would venture to say he's in about the same shape before Pre last year. That's some great progress. While the 1500m may be tough for him, he should still be one of the favourite in the 5k, especially considering he may use the 1500m as the final sharpener.

I understand most of you sniff Jakob as a hobby but if Jakob could run 26:27 then one wonders why 27:27 pace was too much for him to handle in a half marathon.

Multiple things at play there, and he definitely wasn't in 26:27 shape on that day. He ran a 1500 the day before, and im not sure this should have dogged him so much. I think he'd already kind of peaked and was petering out. The 1500 wasn't won with a great time, especially by Jakob's standards. Long season. Peaked well for Paris, then the insane 3000. After that, he got sick. I just think his fitness wasn't with him at that point.

You can’t simultaneously be in 26:27 shape for the 10000 and also be in 3:26 shape for the 1500.
